Leave Friday-Any last minute tips to help with our first "summer" trip?

One thing I can tell you is the worst heat days were actually the ones when it didn't rain. Once back from our trip it took almost a week for us to recover and I think it had a lot to do with the heat those last 3 days. Try to get lots of rest. By the 7th day we started to have little emotional break downs with the kids. While at Innoventions my friends oldest son (11) was in line to play a game and his younger brother (9) got in line two kids behind him. The older let the two kids go ahead of him so he and his brother could play together and the 9yo lost his mind. Crying because his brother let these two kids butt in front of him. He would not listen when we told him why he did it, just kept crying and trying to hit his brother.

Be sure to drink lots of fluids. You will need much more than normal. We are leaving Sunday so I have been checking the Accuweather forecast they are saying hot and humid the whole week. Real feel on the 20th is 101 it is mid 90s most days. I had dehydration problems in May when we went so be very careful and listen to your body.

Yep we are driving down. Do you think the I-95 northbound problems will affect us? We'll be going Southbound. We better push hard to get well into VA before 8pm.

You're driving through DC during rush hour???
You will see delays over the Wilson bridge on "normal" days. An alternative route would be to go the other way around the beltway and avoid the Wilson bridge all together. (Its actually shorter, by distance, to go the other way and miss the Wilson bridge) But you will still hit lots of traffic the other way too. Maybe there are some other Washingtonians on the board that would know which way would be faster.
