We are there from 1/8-1/15. We have 3 small kids and didn't think we needed a touring plan since it was "off season". Just read in the Unofficial Guide that the MArathon is this weekend. Should we expect large crowds next week or would they have all come early and will leave by then??

We have been at WDW on several "Marathon weekends".

Aside from a few signs that mention the marathon, we didn't even know it was going on.

Don't worry about it.

Most of the marathon people are running and don't go to the parks. So while the resorts book up, the parks are generally empty. They will block off some areas for the runners but by 1:00 Sunday, that will be thinning out as well.

we will also be there 1/8-/11 then heading out on a 3 ngt WOnder cruise  We were there two years ago during marathon week and it didn't seem bad at all.we were still able to go to all the restaraunts we wanted without ADR's and very short waits, I should note we didn't do CRT because our son now almost six wasn't/isn't interested, we did do charachter meals at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys. Good luck and let's hope for great weather!

We were there for Marathon weekend one year, and the crowds were slightly bigger on Friday and Saturday, low on sunday (the actual day). But the biggest thing that we noticed was the resort food court was PACKED those 2 days leading up to it (we were at POP) - lots of VERY thin people walking around in running gear. If you've ever known a marathoner, you know what I'm talking about!!

Hi!

No worries, we were there while the Marathon was happening 2 years ago, aside from maybe an extra 5 minute wait time for the rides on that weekend at Magic Kingdom we didn't even notice. (I would advise using Disney Transport on that weekend apparently the traffic is really bad if you are driving)

We are arriving Sunday also for 5 nites. Looks like weather will be fine and very tolerable crowds. Can't wait! Staying at OKW. :sunny:

We've decided to stay off site and use points. With 3 little ones, I thought a condo would be best this time. I love staying on property however and can't wait until we can do that again! Have a great trip!
