My coworker is also a cruising fan, and during our lunch break today we were talking about our cruising experiences.

We were talking about our least favorite stops. I said Nassau; they said Cozumel.

What say you?

Jamaica and Nassau

Cozumel beach break was nice and clean, decent buffet and had working toilets! Nice pirate ship splash area for kids (next to a bar!!! drunken adults overtook it after 2 pm); rocky beach and inadequate life jackets: a worker was yelling at people to bring back life jackets every 20 mins and he went around grabbing any he saw that were not being used.

Grand Cayman (seven mile beach)!had assisted use toilets where the person was forcing people to use the restroom over each other 3-4 times (disgusting) and then putting a bucket of water to flush. I forgot if there was any soap. Had to argue to get 3 chairs for 5 of us (they were forcing us to use 2 despite paying for 5; 1 was broken). Random people just put their shorts on the beach umbrellas (that they didn’t pay for) to dry next to us.

Cozumel or Nassau - I would rather stay on the ship - I’m giving Nassau one more try to see if it’s worth my time - doing an excursion so hopefully it will be better than last few times - Cozumel - zero interest in this port - the person I was with insisted on a certain excursion and I wished we had stayed on the ship so not worth it

I myself loved Grand Cayman and I don’t snorkel I just did it on my own - enjoyed wandering around shopping and had a most enjoyable lunch right on the water and then hit to watch a person get arrested for shoplifting in a shop I was in - dinner & a show 🤣🤣

I also enjoy Jamaica 🇯🇲 - I did the falls years ago so I just like doing other things or a beach day

We've been to Nassau too many times so that's it for us. Jamaica we've done and seen what we wanted that's close enough to port. Never bother to get off at Grand Cayman anymore. Seen what we want and the tendering is annoying. St. Thomas pretty much the same. We enjoyed Cozumel last time but we did a port adventure that was something we hadn't done before. That's pretty much our standard - if there's a port adventure that looks interesting, we'll get off, otherwise we don't. We aren't beach people so unless there's a tour or something we particularly want to see or a restaurant we want to try, we don't see the point of getting off.

Nassau

Just another "sea day" for us now.

Freeport. Thankfully Disney doesn’t go there. On Disney the obvious answer is Nassau, but we’ve honestly had better experiences there than Cabo, which is a port I hope never to visit again.

This thread is making me nervous for my upcoming Western Caribbean cruise since nearly every port has been mentioned (Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman).

I know this won't resonate with most but so far my least favorite port has been Castaway Cay. We loved all the ports on our Alaska cruise and I preferred both St. Thomas and Tortola on our Eastern Caribbean. Hoping to fall more in love with Castaway Cay on the next cruise (this summer it was crazy hot, crazy crowded, and we had bad timing/experiences with food equaling very grumpy family).

Tim Tracker has a good video

You can still have fun. Remember to check the time on Jamaica day (iPhone doesn’t automatically change vs earlier ports).

I have only gotten off in Nassau once to go on a snorkeling excursion. I saw from a recent cruise the port area is all redone. I think I would like to check out Nassau a bit more on my next cruise.

I have been to Grand Cayman twice on vacation, last time we tender there to me things had changed a lot. Its a much better experience when you vacation there.

I was to Cozumel once back in 2010. My family did a really busy and fun excursion, the people were great.

I thought Tortola was okay, went to Cane's Bay Beach.

Unfortunately, the islands with cruise ports are the more populated and more city like areas.

I like how on some Bermuda cruises you are there for 2 days. Its a much better chance to explore larger islands.

Oh, St. John's New Brunswick, Canada. It's okay.

So, no definite complete dislikes. But to be honest no stand outs either. Oh wait...Bermuda.

🚢 :earsgirl:

Same for me. Grand Cayman and then Tortola. So boring.
Still, even there I like to get off the ship and walk around to see things... but both are so underwhelming.
We did the Jost Van Dyke beach transfer at Tortola. It was great. Just the right amount of time before getting sunburnt. Do budget for some merch.

St Thomas we made the mistake of booking the secret sands beach getaway. The beach was beautiful and there were only snacks no food and the transportation back was delayed by 1.5 hr!!! They had changed the pickup time last min to 10:30 am (we had booked 8:30 am) without warning and didn’t get back on the ship until almost 3 pm. It was supposed to last only 3 hours and we had pre ordered allergy food at cabanas. Kids were miserable and they wouldn’t allow us to take a cab back (we were glad to pay more; tour guides wouldn’t call any special cabs and kept saying bus is coming, but buses brought in new tour groups and didn’t take any of us back; finally enough guests were angry and kids were screaming they refilled and allowed us to get some more snacks and drinks at 2 pm). Disney should take this off of their offerings.
