I just bought my DD4 the Disney sketcher and now after reading all the horrible reviews, I am thinking of returning it and getting something else. Can anyone explain the differences between the Leapster and the Pixter? Which is better? She loves to draw, but I'd also like a toy that could teach her something too.

Thanks

My Dks really love the leapster, it has lots of Disney games available and it is very educational and can grow with the child as far as more challenging games. I would encourage your DD to draw on paper so that her coordination improves with age, it helps when they start to write. IMOHO. My DD4 loves the leapster!!

My DS 4 has a leapster that he got for christmas last year and he loves it. you can get many different games for it. One that he has allows him to draw and also use shapes to make things. He has a great time playing it and doesn't really see how educational it is. It was one of the best purchases. Make sure you spend the extra money and get the rechargable battery it is sooo worth it.

My DS got one last xmas. He LOVES it and I admit I do too. It's the most educational electronic game I've seen yet. I just got him 8 new games for it for this xmas. My niece's b-day was last week I got her one. The leapster is an excelent chioce.

I was one of the people who gave a thumbs down the the Disney Dream Sketcher. I ended up buying the Pixter for one ds, and the Leapster L-Max for the other ds. They are both great. If you have a Target near you, they usually have them on display to play with. You also might want to check out the cartridges available for each system and see which one would interest your child the most. I think you can't go wrong with either one. :flower:
By the way, I think the Pixter is going to be on sale at Target next Friday.
And the L-Max is currently on sale with a coupon at Target.

I know this is a little late but just wanted to add my 2 cents. I bought a color pixter for one son and a leapster for the other 2 years ago for the holidays. Long story short, the pixter sits in a drawer and the leapster still gets played with almost daily. Wonderful toy with good educational games. I vote for the leapster. :)

I bought a leapster for my ds when he turned 5. My 2 yrs old loved doing the shapes and other games on it also so it was a constant battle. So I ended up with 2 leapsters and they still play it almost 2 yrs later. It is probably the only toy that has not ended up in the bottom of the toy box.
