Does anyone have one of these? What do you think? I have a dd4 and am looking for a small, portable quiet time type of activity, esp. to take on the plane. Thanks much!

We got the Leapster 2 when DS was 4, and it was GREAT! We used it for airplanes, doctor appointments, anytime where you had to sit still for a really long time in a kind of boring place.

My DS is 7 now, but he still likes it and pulls it out. I think the games go through second grade.

DD3 (almost 4) LOVES the Leapster 2. She's had them since she was barely 3, and just loves it. It fits with her relatively short attention span--she can change the cartridges and get new games. And it really does keep her attention pretty well.

Plus it's actually educational. Not going to get her a PhD, but it's great for reinforcing letters, number, rhyming, etc. depending on the game.

We played with the Text and Learn, but it wasn't fun enough for my little monkey.

DD got a Leapster 2 when she was 2 yr 2 months. We took it on a 17 hr car ride. It was great. She needed help of course but she could talk out the games. She is getting better at doing it herself now. We bought the Finding Nemo game and the Disney Princesses game. Due to the game, she will be Nemo for Halloween :thumbsup2

I would highly recommend buying the charging station!!

My daughter has the text and learn and really enjoys it, but she only plays with it for a limited time since there are only a few games. She does love the little dog and brings the game with her to bed everynight.

My DS5 got his leapster2 last year for Christmas (he was 4 then). He is a little obsessed with video games, so I like the fact that it satisfies that need while also helping him to learn. I really like that it has different difficultly levels that allow the games to stay challenging for the child. DS5 really likes the Jedi math game, and I find it very nice that it has automatically increased the difficultly as he has answered questions correctly!

The variety of games and popular characters that they have is very much a plus. They have games that are rated for up to around 10yrs old, but I would guess that my DS5 will want to move on to a different gaming system by then (although we would prefer he stick with this one ;) )

I have no experience with the other product, but if it is as good as the leapster 2, it is probably a good one. I would go to a store that had both available to at least try a little bit, if possible.
