lunch vs dinner? We have lunch ressies, what do you recommend? Is lunch as good as dinner?

Oh, I'm curious about this as well. :) I have another question, too.

Would you pay out of pocket to eat at Le Cellier, or is it only so great because of the DDP?

We had a very early dinner here and it was our yummiest meal of our trip :)
Def worth it- even if no dining plan!

My son, daughter and I had lunch in Aug....my kids are picky even though they're older now...but we all enjoyed our meal. My daughter wanted to try the cheddar cheese soup?..I think and though we were on the DDP we were not charged , even though we should have been. I would be hard pressed to pay those prices without some type of discount, like TIW, but where some people don't like planning for each table service meal, we never had table service before and looked forward to each new dining experience. My daughter also liked getting dressed up at times when we went to dinner...so the DDP worked well for us...

Love this place. expensive but omg its delicious. We make it a must do every time. This year I split my stay so I can do the DDP for only the 1st 3 nights. We are doing the expensive meals those days. cant wait till Christmas in Disney

My kids are picky too. What are the prices like for children there? I hate to by a kids meal that they won't eat. Maybe they can share our meal?

We ate at Le Cellier this past Aug. Our ressies were for 6pm, or so I thought. They were SOOOO backed up that night. Didn't get seated till 7:45. Now, the hosts were AMAZING. They played Canadian trivia w/ all of us and really, it was alot of fun. However, and this was a HUGE dissapointment...we missed Illuminations. Yeah, I was EVER SO BUMMED. As for paying OOP, never again. The DDP is too expensive and full of places to choose from, why would you pay OOP? We did, and yes, it was a treat, and yes the meal was great, but an extra $165 for food? Hello? There is SO many other things I could have bought w/ the money. Food, goes in and well, we know the rest of the story! :rotfl2: Research, there is SO much info out there, every menu, the price, everthing. Don't pay OOP, soooo not worth it. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to clarify that I will be paying OOP because I will not have the dining plan. I'm trying to pick just a couple TS restaurants, and I will pay OOP for all of my meals. I have done research--I have a plan to spend less than the DDP. What I'd like to know is if the food is "worth it" to pay for, or is it just so great because it's a steak place that's only one TS credit? If they aren't great steaks, I won't go and will spend my money elsewhere.

Good to know about the long wait and thanks for your input :)

We went twice in one trip this year, and I already have three lunches booked there for our trip coming up in January 2010. It is well worth it, I've never done the DDP, and most of our meals are TS and I feel like I am getting what I pay for at Le Cellier. You can't beat it! :goodvibes:

This is probably our favorite restaurant at WDW, wouldn't miss it.

Lunch is usually slightly cheaper than dinner with smaller portion sizes (i.e. sizes of steaks are smaller) Both lunch and dinner are good. Either way, you won't be disappointed. :goodvibes

We used to love Le Cellier. On our last trip (after a several year hiatus) we thought it was overpriced for what you got. The prime rib was small and just okay. Nothing to write home about.

We pay oop for it. We think the food is very good - especially compared to the other restaurants at disney. You can get cheaper meals at lunch - steak salad for example. We don't normally order dessert, so it works for us.

Kids meals there are under $10 I think - including steak - which is $2 more than the others. Kid meals come with an app, meal, and dessert (ice cream or fruit? i think).

Le Cellier, Teppan Edo, and German Biergarden are a few of the restaurants that we will pay oop for at disney. The rest are very expensive and not as good as what you can get off property at a Carrabbas for much less.
