We plan to hire a babysitter for one night so my husband and I can go out for an adult dinner. We're staying at BCV and I don't want to be too, too far away from the kids. We've never been to any of the restaurants in the BC/BW area so I'm not very familiar. We've also never been to Le Cellier's. If you were going to plan one romantic night out, which would you choose? Or do you have an alternative suggestion?

Thanks!
Amanda

I wouldn't pick Le Cellier for a romantic night out. It's usually loud in there. The food is likely comparable as I don't think YSH is one of the best signatures but I would go there as you have greater adult options after dinner and YSH has a great wine list.

My favorite signatures are Califorina Grill, Jiko's and Narcossee's After those I'd put Brown Derby and YSH. But we usually plan our dinner around what else we will do that evening. Maybe provide a little more information on what a romantic night out would entail and your food preferences?

I'm sure I'm in the minority saying that I like Yachtsman over Le'Cellier but I personally think Le'Cellier is a bit overrated; it's good, but in my opinion, it doesn't live up to the hype. I like the steaks better at Yachtsman. However, the downside is that Yachtsman is a signature TS and Le'Cellier is a single TS.

Never been to LeCellier (That changes on 2/10!)

We've eaten at the Yachtsman twice and were thoroughly satisfied both with the atmosphere and the food!

I agree about Shula's, also don't forget about the Flying Fish, which is right there on the Boardwalk.
As far as comparing Le Cellier and Yachtsman, I think the Yachtsman did have slightly better food, but there isn't enough of a difference to justify the significant difference in price.

Well we have ate at both restaurants and I would pick LeCellier over Yachtsman. I was not a lover of the wood chips they cook their steaks over at Yachtsman. It had an odd flavor to me. Yes, I'm probably the only one that would say this. Haha. I was really sad that I felt this way after our meal. It was our 25th anniversary meal and I was so looking forward to it. Just shows you never know. I'm sure you will have a wonderful meal wherever you eat.

Thanks for all the advice! On our last trip we stayed at the Contemporary so we had our "romantic" dinner at California Grill. It was fabulous (although too noisy for me!) but I don't feel comfortable leaving the kids with a "new" babysitter while I'm on the other side of Disney.

We are New Yorkers who like to eat in nice restaurants and we eat a pretty wide variety of stuff. I would never have thought of Flying Fish or Shula's and both are great ideas. We will be on the dining plan so the 2 sit-down credits is annoying but we're willing to do it if the food is good enough to justify it. We like good food and good wine. A nice environment with good service.

I love the ideas! Thank you!!!

shula's for sure. it was the best meal we ate while we were there. it's awesome.

If it is just the 2 of you and you are going to a signature type place, I wouldn't waist 2 TS credits on 1 meal. If youa re anything like me (a fellow New Yorker) when I eat somewhere nice, I take my time and enjoy a full meal. The DDP does not include an app and wine is not included so you are probably going to already be paying OOP as it is. To me the 2 TS credits doesn't justify the cost of only half of a meal. I think you and your hubby should spoil yourselves a little and pay for the meal OOP, then with the TS credits take the kids to a couple of character meals or something. That is just my opinion.

Also, I don't believe Shula's is on the dining plan.

I should have mentioned - when we went to California Grill last year we just paid cash and saved the dining credits. If we go to a Signature Restaurant, we'll probably do the same. I agree that it's a waste to use the dining plan for something like that!

I didn't realize that Shula's was so good. Maybe we'll do that instead!

We have been to LC four times and the food was amazing each time...the last time we went to the YM the food was good for me but DH was not happy there at all and has no desire to go back

If you are not going to spend dining credits, I would definitely pick a place that is not on the dining plan. The Swan/Dolphin has very good restaurants and there is also Bistro de Paris in France at Epcot that is a bit more upscale and not on the dining plan.

Since you said you were hiring a sitter, I assume you wish to have a quiet romantic meal without the kids. With that being said, both LeCellier and Yachtsman are both on DDP and many families will be present, thus making it not so quiet (or romantic). Shula's is excellent as is Bluezoo. I had a wonderful steak dish at Bluezoo although they have excellent fish as well. We find much less children at both Shula's and Bluezoo, especially when dining after 8pm. We usually stay at BCV or BWV so we like to be a little closer to the kiddos when they are with a sitter, just in case we have to come home quickly. Enjoy!!!:goodvibes

I just "discovered" Bluezoo and I think that'll be our choice! I'm SO glad I asked for advice because I got a completely different answer than I was expecting. Thank you all!!!

I was going to chime in with a suggestion for Todd English's bluezoo™, but it looks like you already made that decision. ;)

Since you want to stay close I would go to either BlueZoo or Shula's. Le Cellier is too loud to be romantic in my opinion.

When our son was younger he spent time at the Sandcastle Club at the Beach Club. Like you we wanted to stay close. The Yachtsman is very nice. The service is wonderful and the food terrific. Just last week we dined there. We were celebrating a birthday and personalized menus had been created. When dessert was served, the birthday was recognized but in a lovely understated way. If you sit near the window during Illuminations you can actually still see some of the high fireworks over the trees. Of all the meals we had, the service is most professional at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.
