I tried to do a search as I am sure this has been asked but I didn't come up with much.

Which is better?
Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - Served wild mushroom risotto and white truffle-herb butter sauce. - $25.99

OR

New York Strip Steak - Served with balsamic red onions, watercress, and roasted Yukon potatoes finished with Bercy butter. - $29.99

(hoping these are accurate)

I have had the filet before but I wasn't crazy about the risotto. So, if you prefer to go with that one, is it possible to substitute out the risotto for something else?

Oh and we are going at lunch if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

I don't know about the strip but the filet last year was delicious and they let me have the cream cheese mashed potatoes - OMG so good. My sister had the risotto and it was so heavily salted it was un-edible - she did not even finish her filet.

I loved the filet, but my DH and 14 yr old DS will have the strip when we are there. They love the yukon gold potatos. I don't think you can make a wrong choice!!

I get the fillet and sub the cream cheese mashed potatoes. I have never had a problem doing it.

2 weeks ago, my husband had the filet, and I had the strip steak. We ate off each other's plates, and loved them both equally. I don't think you can go wrong with either! :thumbsup2

Last year I got the filet and subbed the risotto for fries and it was no problem at all, in fact the waitress suggested it when I said that I wasn't sure about trying the risotto.

The photos I've seen of the filet look gross.... hopefully it looks better in person... they could do a better job with presentation...

From reports about Le Cellier, if you are not ordering from the fixed-price Chefs Favorites menu (no substitutions at all are permitted if you order from that menu), you can substitute the side accompanying your entree for any side that accompanies any other entree.

You can't, however, substitute your side for the sides that are available only on the separate "sides" section of the menu.

The filet is much better. You can sub the sides - the side although very small with the strip steak was very good.

I don't like mushrooms, so I asked for the potato gratin with my filet. It was no problem.

Both are very good choices. Add the mashed potatoes and I'm in heaven.

We have never had a problem making minor change to the meal.

If you have time go back and order the other.

The New York Strip steak is better!! Both are amazing. But the NY strip steak is a lot bigger!! Its just as tender. Just be careful, they put too much pepper on my steak last time so I had to send it back for a new one I was surprised how salty the first one was. Maybe a chef mistake

you can sub. My sons both got the fillet, sans mushrooms. One had mashed the other got fries. I had the strip and got the au gratin. As a PP said, as long as it's not the fixed 3 course menu, you can make substitutions. They also went a little salt crazy when we were there. I had to ask for a new batch of fries as the first batch would have been better suited to melt road ice than eat.

regards

Thanks everyone. Glad to know I can sub stuff. We have eaten there twice and also done the dining plan a few times but I've never really thought to substitute thing! That might come in handy for the kids as well. They would much rather have fruit or something than french fries, which always seems to come with the kids meals.

I was always loyal to the Strip Steak with the regular sides until last year when I tried the filet with the risotto - that is now my favorite. It might not be much to look at, but it is heaven with the truffle butter.

Many people comment about how they like the filet... but all the photos make the risotto look gross... like vomit, sorry.... maybe someone has a good photo of that dish? How about the mussels appetizer? Anyone like that?

Is it possible to order just the risotto? I looove mushroom risotto but not so much steak, and I'm going with a friend who loves steak.

Mushroom Filet with Cream Cheese Mashed Potatos substituted...:goodvibes

Don't care if it LOOKS good LOL! THe BEST thing I've EVER eaten at WDW !!!!:lmao::cool1:
