That is actually a picture of the "old" shrimp cocktail. It was several fair sized shrimp over a wasabi slaw. The current version (if they haven't changed it again) is 3 or 4 LARGE shrimp with cocktail sauce & a little bit of picked lemon. I have to admit I was disappointed when I first saw it but, it is delicious!!
When the waiter walked by our table with it last week, DH's first comment was "boy, I'm glad I didn't pay for that" because it didn't have many shrimp on it.
I had the shrimp cocktail on 9-20-08. I used to really like the wasabi shrimp, but I did not care for this appie. They use a different kind of over-powering seasoning, that kind of made the shrimp smell and taste "skunky". Sorry but that's the only way I can honestly describe it. Maybe I just got a bad batch. Our second meal at LeCellier....I ordered the cheese soup and was very content dipping my pretzel breadstick into the yummy soup!
I had them in Sept and the shrimp at LeCellier was much bigger than the shrimp at Tokyo Dining. The shrimp was a good size and good quality, cooked to perfection, I think there were 4 on the plate. There was no seasoning on it, like pp said.
Maybe I should clarify...in my post I said there was seasoning on the shrimp.......but the seasoning was actually on the greens that the shrimp were laying on. It kind of tasted like they used a dressing or seasoning on the greens, with shrimp on top...then maybe covered with saran wrap. The shrimp seemed to take on the exotic asian flavor that did not appeal to me.
Everything else we had at LeCellier was wonderfull.
