We dined at Le Cellier for lunch on our first full day in WDW. Tried as I may, I couldn't get a dinner reservation, but many of the favorites from the dinner reservation are available at lunch.

My son ate from the kid's menu and one of his appetizer choices was the cheddar cheese soup. Normally, I wouldn't think of soup in these record breaking heat index temperatures in Orlando in summer, but I'd heard so much about this appetizer that I asked him to order it so I could try it. I must admit, it was quite good! There was most definitely a strong beer taste to the soup. It was almost equally strong in taste with the cheddar as well. All in all, this is a very hearty soup that definitely has that stick-to-your-ribs quality you'd look for in a good winter soup. Not anything I would order in summer! The child's strip steak was a very nice sized portion and my son enjoyed it.

I ordered the mushroom filet and was originally going to have them hold the mushrooms and sub the mashed potatoes for the risotto. At the last moment, I decided to try it just as it was. It was really quite excellent! My steak was cooked exactly as I ordered it - medium rare. The mushroom sauce went very well with the meat and didn't overpower it at all. The mushroom risotto was also delicious! I thought the two made a great combination. At the waiter's suggestion, I ordered a side of grilled asparagus. It wasn't that great. It was actually bland. The asparagus was very fresh, but it had no seasoning on it at all. It actually tasted like the gas grill. I would have preferred the asparagus to be prepared sauteed or at least seasoned.

For dessert, I ordered the chocolate whiskey cake. It was good. It wasn't great. It seemed like a purchased restaurant cake. The icing was rather hard and not cream at all. The cake was somewhat moist. The taste was fine, but I don't think it was worth $7.99. All in all, I'd have to say that the chocolate mousse my wife and son ordered was much better. I'd have no trouble ordering the mousse or the creme brulee.

We are dining at Le Cellier again for lunch tomorrow (6/21/09) and I plan to try one of the lunch sandwiches. I'll report back on how Le Cellier's lunch sandwiches stack up!

Thanks for the review! I have actually thought of getting the asparagus as a side, glad I passed now!

Thank you for sharing...I was looking on-line and I wanted to try what you ordered...I'm so glad you enjoyed your meal.

is the lunch filet the same weight in oz as the dinner filet?? that question is asked a lot here and I don't know if there ever was a definite answer...thanks for any info..we plan on eating le cellier twice next trip as well:yay:

Thanks for the review. Sorry you didn't enjoy the Whiskey Cake...it is my favorite Disney dessert.

Sounds delightful! I'm so jealous - we wanted to eat at Le Cellier but were unable to get ADRs. Makes me miss the 90's ... way back in the day we walked in to dine there!

I had the soup again today and I really like it. It's just gooood! I would strongly warn anybody from having the shaved prime rib sandwich though. It was like a greasy Steak-ums. They must've sauteed it with the onions and the sandwich was swimming with grease.

My wife had the salmon BLT and she loved it. My son had the filet again and it was awesome!

The lunch filet is the same size as the dinner filet. I asked our server about that.

The maple creme brulee is exactly as I remember it - very good. It's creme brulee, so that's pretty simple. However, I can't recommend the smores highly enough. I thought my wife made a serious misstep with that one and it turned out to be the best dessert I've had there! REALLY good.

Thanks for the second review of LeCellier. Sorry about your sandwich. DH had it two years ago and loved it--said it was perfect (perhaps he had a lucky day or you hit an "off" day). Appreciate your taking the time to post your reviews while you are there. And I agree--that soup is OUTSTANDING.

Don't feel bad about the lunch ADRs. We had two in place of dinner ADRs and the lunch filet is the same as the dinner. It is most definitely THE reason to go to Le Cellier. It's quite good, especially if you like mushrooms.

We ate here two seperate times in one trip, once for dinner and then again at lunch three days later. It was very very good hence the second trip BUT the filet that I got for lunch was easily half the size of the one I had at dinner.
