Le Cellier for Canadians?

We really like Le Cellier. Last year, I took DD14 (at the time) and Le Cellier was her only request. Just this past week, she was recommending some ADRs to a friend who has never been, and Le Cellier was her first choice (Sci Fi her second). I love the mushroom fillet. :thumbsup2

When I was doing ADRs for my trip, I couldn't get Le Cellier, so we are doing Coral Reef for the first time. . . .2 weeks from today. :goodvibes When I played with online ADRs, I could have switched the ressies, but I decided to be adventurous. I know aht I am going to miss my mushroom fillet, but there will be a next time. ::yes:: I just wish that I could find some pretzel bread in the London area.

We had a great time! Our server's grew up about five minutes from where we lived in Ajax Ontario.

Le Cellier is one of our family's favourites- we have eaten there several times. We had a couple so-so experiences- not with the food but with the service- but last March is was all fabulous! The food has always been excellent.

We've got a late lunch ADR booked for October. We are really looking forward to eating there. I love steak and will have a tough time deciding between the mushroom filet or the New York strip. The last time I ate at Canada was way back in 1992 when, I believe, it was a cafeteria. Was it called Le Cellier back then?

Every time we head to WDW, eating at Le Cellier is a must-do. It is good food. And back when our DDs ordered from the kids' menu, it was more than just the usual mac 'n cheese, chicken fingers, etc. They had a steak option.

Besides the good food, the whole place also looks very Canadiana...so yes...it does live up to the hype.

We're going back end of this month and are totally looking forward to it. However, it was a hard-to-get ADR -- couldn't get it for dinner even when I called first thing on the 90-day mark. We have to do it for lunch instead.

This is such a silly debate that seems to get hashed out over & over again on these boards!! :surfweb:

Honestly, is Le Cellier the VERY BEST steak house worldwide? No. Can you find a better steak house in Canada? Yes. Does it always have A-1 service? No. Does it please EVERYONE? No. Should YOU go? Sure, why not? :confused3

Restaurant taste, type, service, ambiance, style, etc, etc, etc, is so subjective to each individual person/family. Le Cellier is consistently rated one of the best restaurants in DW by people who eat at DW restaurants. Does it match up to the "hype"? Go check it out & decide for yourself.

Oh, & by the way....to my Western friends....there are places further East of your local that know how to prepare a steak too. We don't ALL feel that Le Cellier is a MUST DO because it's the only time we "think" we are getting a good piece of steak! LOL!

I don't think anyone is "debating" this. The OP asked for our opinions and we gave them. Of course the experience is subjective - isn't everything in life? And I'm pretty sure that Westerners don't need to be told that there are good steakhouses everywhere. ;) I'm interested in restaurant reviews, but I agree that everyone has their own likes/dislikes and the best way to find out is to try a restaurant yourself. :)

We loved it at Le Cellier. The food was excellent and the staff there were amazing. It was proably our favourite meal. We will definitely go back on our next trip.

I agree! We have been there several times. The chocolate whisky cake is to die for  Better book a reservation early though..it fills up fast!

Thanks for "most" of the replies. Of course the best way is to check it out is to go yourself - but when you have only five days in WDW and you probably won't be able to afford to go again you try and find out which might be the best ones to try. Also for the record we grew up in NS and know there is good steak in many places although the best ones "I've had" have been here in Alberta (but again that is my opinion). If a question bothers you just move on to the next one.

Wow!! :confused3

OP, that seemed a little rude to me & after scanning the thread again, I have a feeling you directed it at me. I guess reading my response I can see perhaps why I might owe an apology. Another example of how the "tone" of an email gets lost!!

When I said "silly", I did not mean STUPID, DON"T POST THIS QUESTION...I meant it was one of those questions that is really hard to answer, is subjective, depends on a number of variables, etc, etc. And the "debate" was NOT what the OP was asking but rather the whole debate as to whether or not Le Cellier will live up to the hype....&, if you've been on the boards any length of time, this question gets asked a lot & really can't be answered except by the person who goes themselves to see if it lives up to the hype FOR THEM.

As for the West vs East best steak debate....I was responding to the few posters who made reference to the people in the East perhaps liking Le Cellier more because the West already had lots of "good" steak houses. It was meant as a joke & a reminder that we in the East have the ability to enjoy a good steak on occasion here as well.

In any case, I was not trying to be rude in my post & apologize if it came across that way. Again, sometimes tone can get lost in translation.

Sorry for the tone - long day - no excuse - thanks for the clarity!

No problem! It happens! And though my post was not meant at all to be rude, I can see upon further reflection why it might have been read as such.:flower3:

I like it....

I would take LeCellier over The Keg...

Maple Creme Brulee melted in your mouth...

I enjoyed it very much. Ditto on the whiskey cake..I was worried it would taste like whiskey but it doesn't ...it was wonderful......

I found steaks very similar to the Keg.and agree with previous posters about crowded tables! We ate early so where lucky not as crowded but later it would have been too crowded for me....

Service was excellent.

I agree, LeCellier is great. It is a steak house, is it as good as the Keg? I think every steak house's greatness depends on the chef grilling the steak. But yes, Le Cellier is worth the money. Try the Cheddar Cheese soup, it is to die for! Also the Chocolate Mouse is great too and fun to look at. Enjoy!
