Le Cellier-Anyone Who Has Been There For Lunch Lately?

Just wondering if Le Cellier still has the little Price Fixe Menu in addition to the regular Lunch menu?

I was there the end of March for lunch, and they did have it. My mom chose that option.

How was the dinner options? I looked through the menus looks like for dinner everything is just priced more for basically most of the same options. Was it worth going to dinner or lunch you basically get the same effect for one credit instead of two?

I was afraid someone might ask that. Yes, we agree, JMHO. We will never do the dinner again. We were not on the DDP (TiW) and felt it was a true rip-off. We found ourselves basically ordering the same things and the taste was no different. Our server said the "cut" of meat is different, but neither of us could taste the difference (we eat here about 12 times a year, so we were not newbies). My DH had the NY strip and I the filet. The only difference we noticed was the price is much, much higher. Also, there are napkin rings, which the server quickly takes off and hands you the napkin (I guess she thought we might steal them??). This is not worth 2TS at all. It does not compare to Narcossees or some of the other 2TS locations. For what I paid for my filet, I thought I would get a nice looking filet, but it was exactly like the one I had in January for dinner. Sorry the news isn't better.

I do have to say that while eating lunch there last Thursday, we did not get the filet and got soup, sandwiches, salads. I saw them carrying a mushroom filet to another table and it was so tiny it looked like a meatball sitting on rice/risotto. I hope whoever got it was happy with that bite of meat, because there wasn't much there. We rarely do the ddp now, but sometimes will do it for one night (a nice DVC perk), so I will stick with a lunch TS when using the ddp. I predict lunches becoming very hard to get her in the future.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. For lunch, I wouldn't mind a meatball-sized piece of meat. We'll be there in 4 weeks and there are some days when we have 3 TS scheduled on a day. We didn't really want to do the signature restaurants (dh didn't want to feel like he had to dress up after a long day in the parks), so there are some days when we've had to schedule 3 TS in a day to make it feel like we're getting our money's worth on the DxDDP.

As a side note, I've been to *very* fancy restaurants where the entree is about $30+ and size of the meat is exactly as you've explained....maybe 1/2 to 2/3 the size of a deck of cards, but probably 2x as thick. I really don't mind that, so long as the preparation and the "display" is extraordinary. I've not been to Le Cellier...would anyone describe the preparation and "display" as extraordinary? If so, it might not be such a big deal.

I would not describe anything at Le Cellier as "extraordinary." Good, but not extraordinary. I have not been to the "signature" dinner yet.

We were there last week... well 10 days ago for lunch and yes they do have the fixe menu. Since we were on the DxDDp I didn't really look at that menu. I got the mushroom filet and have to say it was really good EXCEPT the risotto was way too salty. I mentionned it to the server and he got me another one with less salty and it was honestely very good. I think the size was appropriate for a lunch. I would go back there in a heart beat.

Most men were dressed in short and pole shirt and women had summer dresses on. We saw lots of people wearing running shoes too. Not at all what I was expecting after reading many reviews here. Plsu I have to say we felt out of place with children at 5:30 at Yatchman since they were the only kids there and we could litteraly ear people forks on their plates but when we went back at 9pm for dinner on our anniversary, the place was filled with kids and lots of noise. We thought it was strange as we were expecting the complete opposite.

Yeah, I know...but he is being militant and that's okay, I guess. Florida is hot and the last thing he wants to do is go back and put on a collared shirt which is always heavier and warmer than a simple t-shirt. And, to be honest, he'll have had his hat on all day and his hair will stand up in a gazillion different directions - combed or not combed - when he takes it off. With those things in mind, he'd feel the need to go back and shower before dinner and we usually prefer to go straight from the parks to dinner and then back to the resort at night.

Oh well. It's really no biggie. It'll work.

We had lunch there several months back and were very disappointed. The food wasn't up to our expectations and the prices were not in line with the food provided. Some major changes will need to be made before we go back to Le Cellier.

I had lunch there last week and it was good. Had the soup and the burger, both were tasty and the service was polite and fast.

I know some have very high expectations of LeCellier - I never have but I have yet to have a bad meal there so I will continue to go.

I am a little saddened hearing that dinner was not up to your expectations. DH and I have never been to Le Cellier, but I did book dinner there this trip for a couple of reasons. The fact that the cut and size of the steaks at dinner would be better and bigger.

Le Cellier is still next to impossible to secure an ADR for dinner or lunch already. I have been checking for weeks to see if I might be able to change our dinner to a lunch during our stay to no avail.

I'm sorry, I really don't remember too much of it. We all pretty much knew what we were getting when we got there. The ceasar salad and burger was still on it for sure. It didn't look too different. As always the steaks are not on the prefixed menu. The prefixed is a good deal for folks on the ddp (other than no steaks) because it lets you get the appetizer. But we find most folks on the ddp often will go for the steak. Since we were paying cash we tend to crunch the numbers. The prefix is not always a great deal if you add up the value of each thing first. The mushroom ravioli sounds good. I'll have to try it next time!

If you're paying cash, sometimes the prix fixe option costs actually more than it would cost if you ordered each course a la carte. Be sure you add them up if you are paying cash. The option is there pretty much to steer the dining plan guests away from the more expensive entrees by offering them an appetizer if they settle for the less expensive entrees.
