Layover Confusion

In April I will be flying for the first time and my flight includes a layover in Alanta. How do these work? Will my luggage be transferred automatically or do I pick it up and baggage claim and re check it in?

Your baggage will be checked thru from the originating city to the destination city, so no matter how many layovers you have, as long as you bought a ticket to Orlando, your bags will be checked to Orlando.
