Curious about reviews for Disneyland Express vs Private car. Two of us will be traveling to Disneyland for a quick trip in February !! Yeah!! We are staying at GCH. We need reliable transportation to and from the resort from LAX. This may already be a previous thread so sorry if so, but i didn't see one. I have read extremely sketchy reviews about Disneyland Express. Any advice would be fabulous ! Thanks for the wealth of information on here !!

We used Disneyland Express from LAX for our most recent trip.

Pros:
Economical (especially with children under age 12)
Don't need to bring car seats
Don't have to socialize with the driver

Cons:
Arrival time is unpredictable (they have a schedule but it can be way off depending on LA traffic and your terminal number)
Must wait for the bus outside on an island between two lanes of busy traffic breathing second hand smoke
Bus may make many stops before your hotel (we were staying at DLH so we were the first stop going from LAX to Disneyland)

On our upcoming trip, we are thinking of going with Lansky's car service in part because we've invited my MIL and she is very sensitive to second hand smoke.

I use SuperShuttle www.supershuttle.com
Book online and print out confirmation
They have a pick up point outside every arrivals terminal.
Shared van, maximum 9 people
They start pick ups at Terminal one and go once round the horseshoe picking up other passengers, depending on your destination hotel.
They go direct to Disney / Anaheim and drop off in rotation.

Arrival times will be unpredictable regardless of transpo.
LA traffic can get busy and to a standstill on some days.
Some options do offer direct service without the shared riders.
Even then, there's like to be a delay.

Private car is fine, but the shuttles work out ok too. Just a matter of
preference and $$.

I haven't used Disneyland Express...we were going to try them last trip, but their last pick up wasn't late enough for our arrival and not early enough for our departure. We used Lansky for a private car...great service. If I didn't rent a car, I would use them again.

Do you mean Disneyland Express (small busses) or Disneyland Resort Express (ran by Grayline, a large motor coach)?

I don't think anyone EVER means disneyland express, the small busses. :)

We don't wait out there long. We either wait inside at the window until it's close to the time we feel they should be there (based on how many terminals we are down in the order) then go outside, OR we are in motion, walking up to the first terminal they stop at. No need to just stand there for ages.

OP we like to drive a rental car. If a shuttle is needed, we like Karmel (though we have never taken them FROM LAX). There's nothing sketchy about the Grayline-run Disneyland Resort Express, but they do have procedures, and sometimes those procedures are not totally convenient to the guest.
