We're looking to book a flight with Allegiant out of Bellingham. They only fly limited days to each location so it would be sunday to sunday into LAX or friday to friday into LGB. I really like the idea of flying into a closer airport......what would the time difference be on getting to DL? The con about flying into LGB I guess would be that I'd have to figure out what shuttle to take (whereas LAX is so simple to just jump on the big bus). I'm thinking that I would need to bring booster seats for the kids with any other shuttle which could be a pain.

Long Beach Airport is much closer to Disneyland than LAX is. Depending on traffic, you'll save 30-60 minutes just on the drive. Your time in the airport will be much less, too, so using LGB would be a real time-saver. There are flat-rate taxis available and there are also several shuttles. Don't know about booster seats; you should call the shuttle company.

I'm flying to LAX for my next trip because I couldn't get a good deal to LGB, unfortunately. LGB is always my first choice, followed by John Wayne Airport, with LAX at a distant third.

I would look into how much shuttles cost from LGB and then make my decision. I'm pretty sure Disneyland Express does not run from LGB and if I remember correctly companies like suppershuttle charge more from there.

I personally would probably do LAX out of those choices.

You defineatly want to go with LGB. It is great little airport with tons of customer service. LAX is so far from Disney and the only way i could see you flying in there is if you are flying internationally. There are several shuttles from that airport, i have never used them we always rent a car because we like to go to the beach. LGB is a small airport and it takes you little to no time to check in and go through security. I much prefer the smaller airports, when I traveled last year wih my 6 month old SEA charged me for my babies car seat however going through LGB they said it was free.

Definitely LGB and take a flat rate taxi. There's a taxi coordinator there who can always call for a taxi with more room if that's necessary. Just walk across the street from the main entrance towards the parking garage, and along the left-hand side of the garage you will find a lineup of taxis and a someone that will help you.

If you can use LGB, avoid LAX by all means!

I land according to airfare and number of stops. And LAX usually always wins. If you can book a closer airport and not pay much more and not add any stops, then that's what I'd do. If LAX is cheaper and non-stop, I book it without hesitation. It's really not that bad. :)

I have flown on Virgin America into LAX from SEA and also JetBlue into LGB from SEA in the last year.

I totally am sold on LGB over LAX. Navigating LAX with a 4 year old and then the drive to Disneyland is just too long.

Since the taxi's have a flat rate from LGB to the Disneyland area it not only saves time but money if you have 3 or more people in your group vs. super shuttle from LAX.

LGB is a nice small airport and is soooooo easy to navigate. I just don't know why anyone would pick LAX over LGB.

Plus JetBlue ROCKS!!! :thumbsup2

The Dobies love to fly into LAX on Allegiant because it is cheap cheap cheap.

However, we refuse to fly out of LAX, so we typically split carriers...in on allegiant and out on Alaska out of SNA.

Thanks for the replies! I'd really like the shorter trip to DL, my son felt sick on the bus back to LAX on our last trip and that bumpy ride has stuck in my head!
Anything for me to think on as far as the sun-sun or fri-fri?

I am so happy to hear this as I am booked JetBlue from SEA to LGB for Labor Day weekend :)

Lucky you, if you can make Bellingham to Long Beach work for you, go for it! LOVE Long Beach airport! Wish we could have made that work for us as 20 min drive up to Bellingham would have been awesome instead of having to fly out of Seattle. Have a great time!!!
