Hey!
This will be my first time visiting DL and LAX so was hoping somebody could give me a bit of insight into LAX-it.
I'm flying from the UK so will be nice and jet lagged on arrival. I've been checking the Uber / Lyft apps the past few weeks on different days and getting different prices etc. Prices are ranging from $45 - $180 😱
This is for a ride from LAX - Anaheim. My hotel is close to the harbour Blvd entrance.

My flight lands at 15:05 on Friday the 3rd Dec .... What is the likeliness of me getting a much higher price as this is going to be rush hour / Friday night traffic ? Any experiences with this?
Also , how easy is Lax- it to navigate , are there plenty of staff at hand to help if there is an issue / or you need directions?
I fly into T2 so doesn't look that far to just walk.

Thank you in advance for any tips or advice anyone may have :)

waves from Ireland, I am a solo female traveller and before Covid I visited Disneyland every year from 2010 to 2019. This is my trip report from my last visit in June 2019 . I'm starting to plan my return to Disneyland for January 2022.

You should also come join my new Disneyland Planning thread where I am posting all the new 2021 information for tourist to America as well as all my planning updates

Before Covid I always used shared shuttle services. With a shuttle service, you can pay in advance and you know how much it will cost. With Uber and Lyft there are serge pricing and all sorts of reasons like traffic that can make the price higher than expected.

Since Covid, the shuttle services are not shared, so they are a bit more expensive, but for me its worth it. At least with a shuttle service, I will know the price before hand and I feel a bit more secure than just using Uber or Lyft.

The shuttle services I am pricing up and that many people here on Disboards recommend are

Supershuttle
Midwilshuttle
Prime Time
Lanskys
Karmel

LAX airport is shaped like a U. The International Terminal, called Tom Bradly is at the bottom of the U, with the domestic terminals on each leg of the U. As a result, traffic at LAX is a nightmare, as it is a one way system. It has often taken over 30 minutes to exit from the airport property.

You mention arriving into T2 and walking to LAXIT. I would not recommend this. It may look a short distance on the map, but I know this airport very well and it is a lot further than you think, especially with luggage and after a transatlantic flight.

Trust me, once you collect your luggage from the carousel and walk out the door, you are going be hit with sensory overload, and feel very disorientated. Once the doors open and you walk outside its basically a very busy noisy multi lane road. There will be lots of people with luggage, car horns, drivers shouting etc. And even though it will be December, you will still get hit by a wall of warm air, as the airport is air conditioned.

I recommend getting the free shuttle from the arrivals area to the LAXIT area to get your onwards transport. Once you walk out the door, look for the big green signs for LAXIT Shuttle Pick Up Area.

Depending on the time of day and traffic , it can take 60 to 90 minutes once on the motorway to get to Anaheim. Think of LAX to Anaheim like going from Heathrow to Brighton on the M25, but the motorway is double the size of the M25

For UK and Irish people, the first time in California, LA , Anaheim, Disneyland is extremely overwhelming. The sheer size of everything and the distances involved are the main thing that shocks everyone.

Hey! Thank you for all that information , it is much appreciated. I am also a fellow solo female traveller!

I had looked at super shuttle and was going to book them , however Google seems to suggest that they went out of business in 2019? I can't seem to find if they are back up and running anywhere so felt a bit wary of it. Their website seems to suggest they are very much still running and the prices are tempting too.
If I'm being honest If I do use these guys I'll probably splurge on the VIP meet and greet just so I don't have to worry about navigating my way around to find the driver!
Karmel were unfortunately too expensive for me, they all seem to be pretty pricey.

This is overwhelming , I am a planner at heart so this is all part of the fun for me but I must admit LAX/getting to Anaheim is stressing me somewhat!

you are welcome, yes it is very overwhelming doing all this for the first time. I'm used to it now, so its all automatic and just like coming home in a way.

Supershuttle did go out of business, I used to use them before Covid. But this is a new website and it looks very different to what it was before. I'm not at the stage of booking transport yet, but I'm probably going to book Midwilshuttle.

I don't want to take this thread too far off topic, as you were asking about transport, so PM me and I can help you plan and give you lots of advice

Totally agree with the above, don’t mess with LAX-it after an international flight, get a shuttle which picks you up kerbside. We used Karmel pre Covid several times and always found them reliable. Last time was Christmas 2019.
Rideshare prices seem to vary widely and frequently in the USA these days due to surge pricing, lack of drivers, lack of shared rides available etc.

I think you have swayed me.
Has anyone used super shuttle since they are supposedly back? I was thinking of getting the meet and greet on arrival due to jet lag ( and all the very valid points made above!)and using the cheaper shuttle on my return. Which makes it much more affordable for me.
I just feel very nervous seeing multiple articles claiming they are out of business but nothing to say they are up and running again - how strange?!
They even have a covid 19 section on their website too so up to date too.

I will request a quote from Midwilshuttle .... Thanks again!

FWIW, I took an Uber from LAX to harbor boulevard last week. On Tuesday morning it was $45. But on Sunday morning, returning to LAX, it was $85. Sunday is a big travel day.

can you give us a step by step process of your journey, it would be really helpful :)

1. Which terminal at LAX
2. How did you get to LAXIT
3. The process of booking the Uber
4. Payment process
5. Was there an approx quote
6. How long did each journey take, LAX to harbor boulevard, harbor boulevard to LAX

We don't have Uber in my country

I have emailed karmel to see if they offer a M&G type service where they come to baggage claim or similar.
I will be paying to get internet access on my phone on arrival , however unsure if it will allow texts / phonecalls which a lot of these shuttle companies seem to require to notify them you have arrived and collected your bags.

Thats a good idea, I would be interested to see what they say and how much it costs :)
Unfortunately no, internet is not data. You will be able to use WhatsAp with an internet package, but wont be able to recieve or make noralm SMS or phone calls.

I bought a American pay as you go Sim card on my last visit in 2019, which I will re activate and load with money before I travel. I bought mine in a T Mobile phone shop in LA but I have seen reports of many people buying one on Amazon.

You will need data in Disneyland, as the Wifi is not park wide and it will cost you a lot of money to pay for internet. You will need a phone and data for almost everything in the parks, from virtual queues, to mobile ordering, checking wait times and so much more.

Sure!
1. We were at terminal 2 at LAX.
2. We had to take an LAX shuttle over to the LAXIT pick-up area, but it only took maybe 10 minutes.
3. I didn't schedule the Uber in advance, I just used the Uber app when the LAXIT shuttle dropped me off to call an uber, and since there are so many ubers there in only took a couple minutes to get in mine.
4. I paid via the Uber app. It's connected to my credit card.
5. I didn't get a quote in advance, but once I scheduled it I saw how much it was going to be. It was around $45 going to Anaheim, and around $85 going back to LAX.
6. It was roughly 45 minutes each trip.
Hope that helps!

thank you so much, thats a great help :)

Thanks for the above regarding Uber, as it's a Friday night it definitely seems like one of the busiest times hence why it makes sense to just use a private transfer.
I'm keen on using one that meets you at baggage - this just makes me feel more at ease. After further research , lots of people seem to highly recommend Lanskys on here and it seems they also meet you at baggage.
Of course I'd end up spending more who was I kidding 🙃

We used Sav-on Shuttle for LAX pickup last weekend. I think it's $105 one-way for a single person (we had a party of 5 and paid $120). They called to confirm twice and when our flight landed and I got out of airplane mode, I had a text from the driver that they were waiting and would be meet us out front as soon as we had our bags. We only had carry-ons so I texted them again when we exited the plane and they started heading our way. There are lettered poles on the outside curb, so I just had to text them which pole we were at and they met us there within 5 minutes of exiting the airport. https://www.sav-onshuttle.net/

Thank you for this recommendation!

Just in case this is useful for anyone - I got a quote back from Lanskys and they quoted me $415 return including gratuity.
There was an extra $25 due to it being an international flight

Am also getting a quote with Midwilshuttle too.

That seems strange. Yes you’re coming from the UK but you won’t be arriving at the international Terminal (T7). You’ll be arriving on a domestic connection at a domestic terminal so I’d question the $25 premium from Lansky or anyone else.

Try Karmel shuttle. get away today has deals with them…. It’s about $150 one way.

Lax on a Friday night is going to be pricey…

I’ve used Karmel, with the GetAwayToday vouchers; they were fine. We did Uber from the LAxit lot 2 weeks ago, and that was also fine and less expensive.
I seem to recall somebody saying on here that SuperShuttle is NOT the same company it was- somebody took it over- and it’s been quite shady and unreliable. I’d look for recent reviews before booking it.
