what do you do?
im thinking of cutting back this yr but not sure where
decided to keep
1) spring treatment/crabgrass control/insect control
2) broadleaf weed control/insect control
3) grubproofing
dh also thinks we need to add pelatized lime in the spring and more "stuff" in the fall
what is the bare minimum that yards need yearly?

Now is the time to apply the crabgrass control...
There is a place here that offers 5 bags(1 applied every 6 weeks) for $42.99..delivered..
The first one is to control crabgrass
2nd & 4th one are called weed & feed
3rd & 5th one are called lawn food

Don't know if the grub thing would be any good this year; since there will be cicadas this year, the critters will probaly be eating there..don't know if grub control kills these too..

It depends on how your lawn is now and what problems you had last year, & your state.

For example we are having one HECK of a time with grubs. They are just killing our lawns every summer. Also if we don't put the crabgrass preventer it will take over.

For our area the crabgrass preventer will go down mid April.

As far as bare minimum, it depends on the lawn problems you have.

we just started using Scotts service this year. Theyre new to our area but may also be in your area I dont know. the number is
1*888*872*6887

I swear by using Scotts products! When we bought this house a year and a half ago there was virtually no lawn! It was in terrible shape! We had tru Green come out and they said to raze the whole thing and put in all new sod. Well we went to work and used grass seed over what we had in there and Scotts and it brought the lawn so nicely!! I was thrilled!

Good luck!

One thing that really helped my yard was aerating it...
I think that has to be done in the fall though...

I use the 5 step treatment thru tru green..:o

DH aerates (sp?) every time he cuts the grass by wearing golf shoes, or these sandal-y things with spikes on the bottom. He also does the Jerry Baker thing with beer, baby shampoo, Listerine, etc, When we first moved in, I told him, being how DS was almost 2 yrs old, and DD was an infant, that I didn't want any chemicals on the lawn, so they could play outside-----our lawn is the first on the block to green up and the last to brown out. And also is the greenest all summer, so I guess the "natural stuff" works.
