Hi,
I have tried twice to lose weight in the last year. The first time I lost 20 lbs and then gained it all back. The second time I lost 19 lbs and have gained back 5 or 6. I DON'T want it back!!!! I figured that maybe if I keep a journal I will be less likely to cheat! My goal is to lose 46 lbs. That would take me to 160 which is pretty good since I'm 5' 11'' with a medium build. I am hoping to be down close to my goal weight by January 2006 because my husband and I decided that we would participate in the 1/2 marathon at Disney. I'm SOOOOO excited. We will be living in Florida by then (my husband's Air Force) and can't wait! Today is my first official day back on the program. I've used the Body for Life program before and it seems to work really good! This morning I had a small bowl of Cracklin' Oat Bran cereal with skim milk and then at about 10am I had a ham sandwich with a teaspoon of lite margarine and one slice of fat free swiss cheese on diet bread. Now that all the kids are sleeping (I run a small daycare out of my home) I am going to hop on the treadmill. I'm trying to see if I can work my way up to running about 3 miles on the treadmill 3 times a week while keeping under the 16 minute mile requirement needed for the upcoming marathon. Right now I'm able to do only one mile but I'll keep working on it. :earboy2:

Great idea - running during the babies naps - good luck!

Welcome! That's great that you and your DH are going to be running the marathon. Best of luck to in your efforts to lose weight and reach your training goals! :sunny:

Hi tlkkrados! Welcome to the Wish Journals :wave2: Your goal is such an exciting one to work towards! I am training to run in a 5K so nowhere near the 1/2 just yet but I'm only up to 1 mile straight at this point so I know how you feel :teeth: Keep up the great work and you'll be running 13 miles before you know it. :cheer2:

Today is Tuesday 1/25. Yesterday I ran 1 mile in 15 min 10 sec. I was pretty tired after finishing my walk/run but I probably could have kept going. I felt great after finishing running. It seems wierd but I seem to have more motivation to run (or do any kind of exercise in general) now that I have a goal I'm working toward. Yesterday I did pretty good at eating. I had a salad and bowl of chicken noodle soup for lunch, I ate a nutrition bar in the late afternoon and then had 1 serving of homemade lasagna (that way I know that I'm putting healthy things in there) for dinner. The only screw up I had was I had a cherry turnover last night. I wouldn't have even wanted it except it was there still from Sunday. Darn it! I felt rotten about it even while I was eating it. I'm really glad I'm journaling everything because the thought that I had to write down that I ate it made me feel terrible! I think the hardest part of eating healthy for me is having food around that my kids like to eat. (I have a 6 yo and a 10 yo) and also finding time to eat healthy especially at night since it seems like I'm running kids constantly from the minute I finish work until about 8:30 or so at night. I don't have too much of a problem with drinks. I'm not a coffee or tea drinker and I don't like regular soda at all. I pretty much drink crystal lite, diet soda or water. I know that I don't drink as much water as I should, but I'm working on it. Well today is another day and I'll give it a go again. I am going to try a 10 minute aerobic exercise followed by a good weight lifting session today. Oh I'm going to try not to weigh in except on Saturday mornings. That will be pretty hard also! :earboy2:

tikkrados -- keep up the great work and posting to your journal -- I am inspired by people who are doing so well. Even now, I have a terrible urge to go home and treadmill. It's great that you are running this soon at a pace that will keep you on track for the 1/2 marathon.

Hi, today is Wednesday 1/26. Yesterday I had a really good day! For breakfast I had a bowl of raisin bran cereal. Mid morning I ate a low fat pb&j sandwich on diet bread. For lunch I had one serving of lasagna. I was really hungry in the late afternoon and knew I couldn't eat dinner til around 8:30pm so I had a bowl of chicken soup. For dinner my husband made some kind of sushi looking thing. It had rice, veggies, egg and beef. It was ok and I ate about 6 small circles of these. I then had 2 servings of dried cherries as dessert. I did some good weight training yesterday. I definitely think I need to up my weights on Thurday though! I have found that I do fine all day long until late afternoon/evening. Starting at around 4pm or so I start to get cravings for things I shouldn't have. After dinner I end up getting these cravings again. I'm not sure why....maybe it's just habit. I see the kids eating their after school snacks and then at night I've always been used to snacking while in front of the TV. Today I'll be back on the TM.
I've been reading a bunch of the other journals here and I am so encouraged by everyone! Keep up the good work!!!!!

Hi Laura,
Congratulations on your goal to do the 1/2 marathon!

I totally agree with you on having more motivation when you have a goal like doing the 1/2. Last year I signed up for the Disney 1/2 marathon this year and I worked out consistantly from jan-Jun. Then I talked myself out of doing it and I fell of the exercise and dieting wagon (after I reached my WW goal). In November I started thinking I still wanted to try to do the 1/2. In December I started training and even though I didn't train properly I still did the 1/2. It was the best experience of my life and one that has changed me forever. I have now signed up for the 2006 Disney 1/2 and the April 16 Ocean City MD 1/2 marathon. I also have plans on doing a 1/2 marathon in September in Philadelphia. Having these goals is what has kept me exercising since I came home. I also have set a goal of doing the full marathon in 2007. I know that if I continue to exercise and do 1/2 marathons I will be ready to do that in January 2007. Without these goals I probably wouldn't have the desire to exercise consistantly.

Keep up the great work. You are going to do fabulous.

Hi, today is Thursday, 1/27. Yesterday was a great day. I did great with eating. I kept my calories to 1579. I'm trying to stay at around 1700 calories. I also ran again yesterday. I ran/walked 1 mile in 14:55. I ran 3 minutes then walked 2. I still am tired when I'm done but I'm sure it will get easier. Today is cold and rainy and it makes me want to curl up in a blanket instead of doing my weight training, but I will force myself to do it. Thanks so much for the encouragement I've been getting!

I missed posting yesterday but I've been doing pretty well. I've been making good choices and doing my workouts (except Thurs)OOPS! I did a weigh in this morning and found that I have lost 2 lbs. YEA!!!! I had decided to do a M-F workout schedule, but I'm really feeling like I want to hope on the TM. I think I may, it can make up for skipping Thursday. I one thing I've found is that I can't handle eatting much fried food anymore. I've actually known this for a while but sometimes (like today for lunch) I get stupid and eat it anyway. We had fried mushrooms at a restaurant and while they were good at the time now I've got this almost sick feeling and I KNOW it's from them. You'd think I'd learn wouldn't you! I seem to be leveling out on my one mile run time. I'm averaging about 15:15 for my one mile and that is doing 3min run/2min walk. One of my goals right now is to up my run time to about 4 or 5 min of run time to every 2 min walk. I also would like to start increasing my distance maybe by about 10% every week or so. I am definitely psyched about my two lb weight loss. I am dying to get under 200. I haven't done it in the last two times I kinda fizzle out at about that point. But shoot I've only got about 6 lbs to go to get to 199. I just found out that my husband is going to put together a team to run in the Relay for Life this spring. He is hoping to get a team together that will be able to beat the Marine team that runs every year. They get about 4 sets of four people that take one hour turns running laps that entire night. I told him to count me in so I'm working on getting my endurance up.

YEA its the weekend!

Hi Laura,

Great job on loosing those 2 lbs! Woo hoo! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I know what you mean about fried foods. I have trouble with them too. My stomach definately lets me know that it doesn't agree with me!

Great job with your running. I did the 3 min walk/1 min run today for the first time. It was alot easier than I thought it was going to be.

Keep up the great work!

Ok, I'm not as good at getting in here everyday for an update but oh well! I have been doing really good with my exercise. I'm up to one mile plus one tenth doing a combo run/walk. My weight training is going good also. I had been doing good on my eating until the beginning of this week. I have been eating a little more than I should the last couple of days. I know that I need to proabably work out a little bit longer. The problem is I'm pretty tired after doing my mile on the TM. Oh well, I'll just stick with it and see how things go.

Update
I did my TM during naptime today and I finished my 1:10 mile in 15:30. I actually finished the 1 mile portion in just a little over 14 minutes!    That's my best time ever. I didn't even realize I was moving faster than usual. I couldn't keep the pace up for several miles but knowing I can do at least one feels GREAT!!!! So far today eating has gone very well. I had a small bowl of cereal w/skim milk for breakfast. A Body for Life bar for a midmorning snack and a small portion of lasagna with TONS of veggies for lunch. It's now 4pm and I am just barely starting to feel hungry again. Time to decide on what I want for an afternoon snack. ::MinnieMo
