Pre-trip report – 20th Sept-4th Oct 2012

So despite saying last year that we wouldn’t be going back until 2013, just weeks after we returned we had booked for 2012…

Who's who?

Me – Laura :wizard:

Boyfriend – Steven

We’ve been together for 5 and a half years now and it’s our third trip to Florida together. He’s been well and truly bitten by the Florida bug!! :lovestruc

We’re staying at Port Orleans Riverside, which is a first for us. It’s only our second time onsite, in 2009 we stayed at All Star Sports, which was lovely and did the job but this time we plan on spending a little bit more time at the resort and having more pool time (one promise I had to make to DBF in order to go back!). I read POR was a big resort, it looked lovely and after reading many reviews we went ahead and booked (plus we have free QSDP).

Exactly 2 weeks left to go and everything is sorted. API’s and ESTA’s all done and dusted, airport car parking booked, insurance sorted and currency purchased. I have checked everything hundreds and hundreds of times and we're ready for the off!

For the first time we have made ADR’s :scared1:

Monday 24th Sept – Rose & Crown 7.30pm
Wednesday 26th Sept – Via Napoli 8.30pm
Saturday 29th Sept – T-Rex 3pm
Sunday 30th Sept – Planet Hollywood 3.35pm

I’m looking forward to trying something new and reporting back. I know you all love food reviews and photos, as do I :goodvibes

We’ve booked the Wishes Dessert Party for Sunday 23rd Sept, which we are both very, very excited for. We both have a sweet tooth and love desserts. I’ve heard good things about the dessert party so I’m hoping it’ll be a fab experience.

We also have MNSSHP on 25th Sept which is another first for us. I’m so excited for this! We haven’t planned on any kind of strategy on how to tackle the park. I’m not too fussed on meeting characters. I really just want to see the shows, parades and fireworks. DBF is just thinking of all the sweeties…

I'm taking my notebook with me this year so with the free wifi I'm hoping to post regular updates throughout our holiday :goodvibes

So now, there has been a slight hiccup, some of you may have seen my thread on the planning board about this.

Going back to Tuesday 4th Sept. Steven plays football with the lads of my family every Tuesday night, after football this week my dad came home and said Steven hurt his foot 10 minutes into the game. Nothing more was mentioned of it until I wake up at 7am the following morning to a text message from Steven - ‘I have bad news, I have broken my foot’ :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I was in bits! He had woke up at 5am in pain, couldn't walk at all and had to be taken to A & E. They x-rayed him and confirmed straight away he has a broken metatarsal. He was told to come back at 9am when the fracture clinic opened so they could decide what to do.

Fast forward to around 11am, I'm at work and when I manage to sneak away from my desk with my phone, I see this:

I was devastated as was Steven. I am a worrier, worrying about anything and everything so this is pushing me over the edge! 'what if this happens, what if that happens' etc... I'm panicking that I'll have to drive us to the airport the day we fly, which will be a nightmare! I'm such a nervous driver and only had my first ever drive on a motorway last night which was traumatic enough :( I'm not a good flier either so get extremely stressed out on travelling day.

He told the doctor that he was flying to Florida on 20th September so the doctor has arranged to have his cast removed on 18th September. Fingers crossed the break will have healed but also that he is ok to walk about without crutches and isn't in in pain. He's gutted he may have to miss out on doing the water parks this time, the slides might be too rough for him.

We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed everything will be ok :wizard::wizard:

Oh no. Hope he heals quickly and it's all ok for your trip!

Hope you have a lovely time!

I love your tweedledum tweedledee pics. I have a great one of me from last year in the same. Haha

Thank you :-)

Quick update - had my pre-holiday hair cut at the weekend, getting very excited!!!

DBF is managing to stand up with a 'boot' on the bottom of his cast without any crutches and is no longer in pain :-)

The suitcases will be coming out at some point this week :-) woo hoo!!! it's almost time!

What a great feeling knowing you don't have work to wake up for. It makes waking up early a little bit better! The excitement is in full flow, I've been tossing and turning since 4am so who knows what I'm going to be like tonight/tomorrow morning.

I finished off the packing last night, only things left to go in are little things like toothbrushes/hair brush but they can be put in at the last minute.

Last minute things to do - make sure camera and video camera batteries are charged up, memory cards all in order, notebook charged and itunes up to date with movies, music and podcasts and trying to de-clutter my room.

DBF is coming over after work tonight, he packed last night :)

It's finally happening!! :yay:

Just to let you know. Weather is hot humid but has been a bit stormy. Not too bad and apparently going to ease up for the weekend.

Have fun!

Yeah I've been checking the weather forecasts and have seen there's been storms predicted. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Its quite funny they call it a cold front but it's still about 22c. Lol

MK was quiet yesterday because of the rain. Good for us as we aren't too bothered. :)

Oops I missed you, you've gone already, have a wonderful time.

Hope you have a fantastic time:thumbsup2

Look forward to hearing all about it popcorn::

Hope you had a safe journey and are currently enjoying your trip! Can't wait to read all about it :goodvibes

Thanks everyone, we're having a great time. Weather isn't too bad, just showers on an evening with lightening. Parks not too crowded :-)
