Pre-trip report 20th Sept-4th Oct 2012
So despite saying last year that we wouldnt be going back until 2013, just weeks after we returned we had booked for 2012
Who's who?
Me Laura
Boyfriend Steven
Weve been together for 5 and a half years now and its our third trip to Florida together. Hes been well and truly bitten by the Florida bug!!
Were staying at Port Orleans Riverside, which is a first for us. Its only our second time onsite, in 2009 we stayed at All Star Sports, which was lovely and did the job but this time we plan on spending a little bit more time at the resort and having more pool time (one promise I had to make to DBF in order to go back!). I read POR was a big resort, it looked lovely and after reading many reviews we went ahead and booked (plus we have free QSDP).
Exactly 2 weeks left to go and everything is sorted. APIs and ESTAs all done and dusted, airport car parking booked, insurance sorted and currency purchased. I have checked everything hundreds and hundreds of times and we're ready for the off!
For the first time we have made ADRs
Monday 24th Sept Rose & Crown 7.30pm
Wednesday 26th Sept Via Napoli 8.30pm
Saturday 29th Sept T-Rex 3pm
Sunday 30th Sept Planet Hollywood 3.35pm
Im looking forward to trying something new and reporting back. I know you all love food reviews and photos, as do I
Weve booked the Wishes Dessert Party for Sunday 23rd Sept, which we are both very, very excited for. We both have a sweet tooth and love desserts. Ive heard good things about the dessert party so Im hoping itll be a fab experience.
We also have MNSSHP on 25th Sept which is another first for us. Im so excited for this! We havent planned on any kind of strategy on how to tackle the park. Im not too fussed on meeting characters. I really just want to see the shows, parades and fireworks. DBF is just thinking of all the sweeties
I'm taking my notebook with me this year so with the free wifi I'm hoping to post regular updates throughout our holiday
So now, there has been a slight hiccup, some of you may have seen my thread on the planning board about this.
Going back to Tuesday 4th Sept. Steven plays football with the lads of my family every Tuesday night, after football this week my dad came home and said Steven hurt his foot 10 minutes into the game. Nothing more was mentioned of it until I wake up at 7am the following morning to a text message from Steven - I have bad news, I have broken my foot

I was in bits! He had woke up at 5am in pain, couldn't walk at all and had to be taken to A & E. They x-rayed him and confirmed straight away he has a broken metatarsal. He was told to come back at 9am when the fracture clinic opened so they could decide what to do.
Fast forward to around 11am, I'm at work and when I manage to sneak away from my desk with my phone, I see this:

I was devastated as was Steven. I am a worrier, worrying about anything and everything so this is pushing me over the edge! 'what if this happens, what if that happens' etc... I'm panicking that I'll have to drive us to the airport the day we fly, which will be a nightmare! I'm such a nervous driver and only had my first ever drive on a motorway last night which was traumatic enough
I'm not a good flier either so get extremely stressed out on travelling day.
He told the doctor that he was flying to Florida on 20th September so the doctor has arranged to have his cast removed on 18th September. Fingers crossed the break will have healed but also that he is ok to walk about without crutches and isn't in in pain. He's gutted he may have to miss out on doing the water parks this time, the slides might be too rough for him.
We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed everything will be ok
