Day 4 – Animal Kingdom + Moving rooms!
Thursday 13th Sept

I woke up pretty early this morning, around 7am!! I made Gary get up and ready so that I could pack up our cases as we were moving rooms today. The front desk had told us to leave the luggage in the room and they would move it to our new room once it was ready. All packed up and ready to go, we headed down to Picabu for breakfast, I just had a bagel and cream cheese with some OJ as normal.

At 8:30 we met my parents and grandparents and headed of to the bus stop, to get a bus to Animal Kingdom. Fortunately for us the bus arrived almost straight away and it was totally empty! Great start! In no time we were at the park, and walked straight through. We decided to head over and do the Safari first as apparently more animals are out in the cooler hours! There was about a 5 minute queue and we were soon on our way! There were plenty of animals out in the safari – we even had a Rhino wander right over to the side of the car!!! I didn’t actually like that. I think the Safari is much better now than when it first opened, all the plants have “grown in” and it looks more realistic now!

After that we headed over to do Its Tough to be a Bug! Again no queue….waited a little bit for the show to start though. After that it was getting pretty hot again so we decided to head off and do Kali River rapids. My Grandparents decided not to do this so they headed over to Dinoland to have something to eat – they are ALWAYS eating cakes, chocolate, chips etc and yet as skinny as ever, same as DH! Not that im jealous…….!! After a nice soaking on the rapids we rushed over to do Exepedition Everest, as that had a queue we did single rider and all ended up on the same train anyway!

Afterwards we headed over to meet my Grandparents and go on countdown to extinction! My Nan couldn’t go on this as she has a bad hip and its pretty bumpy so she waited outside for us. When we came out there was some performers doing some stunts with some chairs and things – balancing on top of each other etc. So we watched them for a little while. After this my Grandparents headed off to the hotel and we headed off to the Flame Tree BBQ for some lunch – I had the pork sandwich which was lovely! Lots of meat in there!

After lunch we had a look through all of the shops – I love the shops in AK as they always seem to have lots of different things in there! Unfortunately this time I didn’t purchase anything. There were some really nice flip flops in there but DH was giving me the “how could you possibly need another pair of shoes” look so I decided to wait till we were on the cruise!

After we had finished in the shops we got the bus back to the hotel and went to the front desk to see if our rooms were ready or not They were, we were now in room 4025 and my parents in room 4027. These to me are perfect rooms as they are just up a few stairs from the lobby, and had a balcony with a view over Epcot and the Boardwalk area! So I was very happy with the room! We decided to have a chill out this afternoon as we were off to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ this evening!

We headed over towards the Magic Kingdom at 5, and got the boat across to the Fort Wilderness resort, we had to go and pick up our tickets so me and DH headed off to get those whilst the others took a look around. Tickets picked up we headed down towards the BBQ area, we had good timing as they had just started serving the food and the bar was open!! Now I know a lot of people don’t enjoy the Backyard BBQ but I think it’s a fun night out, the food is pretty basic – Cheeseburgers, Hotdogs, ribs, Chicken, Mac and Cheese etc but its all tasty – the beer and wine are all included (as much as you can drink as DH kept reminding me!) and the entertainments pretty good in a cheesy way! We all ate loads, drunk loads (definitely loads as some people were decidedly tipsy by the time we left) and got some pictures with the characters before getting the boat back to the Magic Kingdom. We got back to MK just a few minutes before 9pm…or so I thought…Wishes hadn’t started yet so we thought we would go into the park and watch the fireworks but were told it was now 9pm so we weren’t allowed to!

So we had to get the bus back to the hotel, and sat out on the Balcony with a drink thinking about what we were going to do tomorrow.

So nice to get the room you want, especially with a good view from the balcony.

BBQ sounds great
