Day 8 – Golf and Shopping!

I woke up pretty early this morning, so I decided to get up and have a shower and wash my hair, I sat out on the Balcony for about 20 minutes before DH woke up. We headed downstairs for breakfast, we both had a bagel with cream cheese. After breaksfast we headed back to the room to grab our things for the day. We were all meeting in the lobby at 9:15am. DH, My Dad and Grandad had a tee time booked for a round of Golf at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course today. I think there tee time was about 10:30 as its cheaper if you play a bit later in the morning! Us ladies were headed off to Downtown Disney to go shopping! The men jumped into a taxi, and we headed over to the bus stop to wait for the right bus. We got off the bus at Market Place and decided to walk all the way through, we had a good look through the Christmas shop but emerged empty handed! My Nan brought some toys from the lego shop for my cousins, and we headed over to Silversands. I bought a couple of roxy tee Shirts – these are my favorite holiday item! They are so light they take up hardly any room in the suitcase, are easy to wash and iron and dry of so quickly after a water ride! Next up was the sports shop, My mum got a golf Shirt for Dad, I was going to get a Golf top for DH but they didn’t have his size. We had a look through the glass shop and Basin with all the lovely smelling soaps. We then were at the World of Disney – we arranged to meet outside by some benches as we always seem to lose at least one person in this shop! I got a load of Christmas presents, they had some Pirates of the Caribbean toys in the sale, down from $30 to $15! So I got 3, one for each of my boy cousins! I felt a bit cheap with just those so we got them each some Disney sweets to go with them. For my girl cousin we had already found this cute little white bag (She is 5 and loves dressing up etc). So we got some Disney hair accessories and some of the Disney princess makeup (lip shine and nail varnish) to go in the bag. My mum got a Stitch space cruiser for one of my younger cousins and a Pirates of the Caribbean bag (also in the sale). After this we had finished all our shopping, and spent all of our money too! So we decided to get some lunch, we were going to be staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter later that trip and my Nan had never seen it. So we decided to go over there, have some lunch and a cocktail over at muddy waters! We chose to get the boat from near the Rainforest café, which is a nice trip along the river! We wound up my Nan by telling her we were staying in one of the tree houses! We soon got to the French Quarter and walked through to the food court. We hadn’t stayed at the French Quarter before, id booked that one as its smaller so there would be less walking for my Nan with her bad hip. The resort was really quiet and pretty! But I think I preferred Riverside personally. We headed to the food court for lunch where I had a grilled chicken sandwich, After lunch we walked over to Riverside, and got a nice table at Muddy waters over looking the pool where we sat and enjoyed a cocktail. After drinking our cocktails we decided it was time to head back to the hotel, we hopped on a bus to MGM and got the boat back to the Dolphin. My Nan decided she was going to go back to the room for a lie down before the evening. My mum and I decided to go down to the pool and sit and have a drink round there whilst we waited for the men to get home. They got back to the pool around 3:30pm and we had a bit of a swim before heading back to the room to get changed. We had had a few problems with various parts of the hotel – mostly the amount of conferences going on in the hotel. I don’t mind conferences normally but this time they were having events around the pool and therefore closing it, events in the lobby so you had to squeeze through to even get to the bus. One pool was closed for refurbishment and so was the pool bar. My mum had received a courtesy phone call a few nights ago to see if everything was going ok so she highlighted these issues but didn’t expect anything. Anyway when she got back to the room today there was a message waiting for her, saying they were offering $200 of credit on to her room and a complimentary breakfast for 6 at the Garden Grove. So we decided to go to the Dolphin Fountain for dinner, all 6 of us. We went early, about 5:30 so we could go to the Magic Kingdom afterwards. The food was nice, but over priced for a burger, good thing it was free! After Dinner my grandparents wanted to go to the Boardwalk, and we decided to go to the Magic Kingdom. We were only really going to have a look in the shops and watch Wishes. Half way through the fireworks the music stopped, and so did the fireworks – something had clearly gone wrong – in all the times I’ve seen the fireworks I don’t think ive ever noticed it go wrong before. About 5mins later they picked up again in the right place, right fireworks etc. I was impressed! After the fireworks we headed back to the hotel to unwind, have a drink on the balcony before heading to bed.

Glad the hotel problems were resolved.

We always lose someone in the world of disney shop. what a good idea to arrange to meet up outside.
