Laur’s & Andy do the Universe and the World – Day Two

Me – Laur’s – 27
DH – Andy – 28

Day one – 22 September 2006 – Reeking of feminine beauty

I woke up this morning at 3.45 am, and not realising it tried to get Andy to let me get up for a coffee and a cigarette. No dice. I manage to get back to sleep and try again at 6 am. Still no dice. Finally I manage to wake up at 7 am and start cheering because there is no way he can say no to getting up now! I am right, Andy concedes and we get up.

I tentatively realise that I am feeling better today, but decide not to get too excited about it just yet. We have a coffee in the room (the coffee here is so good) and decide to do something we have never got around to doing before – go for breakfast off site. So we set out to IHOP at 8 am (8am! This is unheard of for us!) We have a fantastic breakfast – toast and jam, 2 sausages, 2 fried eggs and hash browns for me, and scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, gammon ham, hash browns and pancakes for Andy, both with orange juice – and are left wondering why we have never been bothered to do this before! I was particularly impressed that they butter the toast for you! Now that’s service.

We went back to the room to change as the weather was somewhat warmer than when we got up and then headed out to Universal Studios. I was by now feeling better, I am pleased to report. We walked to the park (how cool is that!) and arrived about 9.45 am. We went straight on to Jimmy Neutron as this is my favourite ride in the whole of the Universe! I now know most of the words to the pre-show, never mind the ride.

After Jimmy, we head on to Shrek. They seem to have toned down the pre-show for this, which pleases me as it always put me off the actual experience. I was also happy because I had a seat which moved properly, and enjoyed it so much more than I have previously. We had our picture taken with Shrek on the way out, no Donkey though, so we decide to look for him later.

Next we do Jaws (Andy’s favourite) and Men in Black. We had seen earlier the times for appearances of the Madagascar characters so head off to the character spot and have our picture taken with Alex the lion and two of the penguins. After this we go and see T2:3D with my hero Linda Hamilton.

We buy a couple of hotdogs and diet coke from a stand for lunch about 1.15 pm. I have to say that the hotdogs have gone off since last time we were here, they were pretty horrible, but at least we weren’t hungry anymore.

We did Men in Black again after lunch and then Earthquake. On our way to E.T. we saw that curious little monkey George and he is so adorably cute that I had to get my picture taken with him. He was so sweet and kissed me twice.

We rode E.T., watched the incredible Blues Brothers, got some rainbow dipping dots which are the best cooling down snack ever and watched the Blues again. The second time was even better as they played Sweet Home Chicago, and Jake told the audience to sing along if they knew the words. I love the Blues so I was singing my heart out, and about halfway through the song, Jake looked right at me and said “You know the words, don’t you babe?”. Really made my day.

We walked past Shrek again and Donkey was there so we went for our picture. He was very cool, asked our names and where we were from and told me that I just reeked of feminine beauty! This made my day all over again. We also got our picture with Shrek again as Princess Fiona was with him this time.

On our way out of the park, we rode Jimmy Neutron once more and visited the Betty Boop shop, which is my favourite one as I adore her! I bought a cute red, white and boop t-shirt, a plush Betty doll and a Christmas decoration. Andy also bought me a brush for my Christmas stocking  (and I am proud to say that I haven’t looked at it once since).

We left the park around 5 pm and walked back to the hotel. We went and got a Bud Light each from the bar and sat and dangled our feet in the hot tub whilst drinking them and listening to good old fashioned rock n roll – bliss.

We finally dragged ourselves away for a shower and then went back to the bar to get some nachos for tea. The dive in movie was on whilst we were eating. It was the Flintstones, and we had fun trying to watch it backwards.

After tea we walked over to the Hard Rock Café to have a look round the shop there, and back to the hotel to have a look in their shop. They now stock Harajuku Lovers (one of Gwen Stefani’s clothing ranges) and I spent many happy minutes looking at all the stuff.

We head back to the bar and Andy has a beer and I have a malibu and coke, and discuss our best moments of the day, and the worst – lovebugs EVERYWHERE! We then head off to bed for an early night as we are off to Busch Gardens in the morning. Would it be a relaxing night’s sleep? – find out next time……

Lovely pics :sunny: we had an IHOP breakfast for the first time last year and we loved it :thumbsup2

Where is IHOP in relation to HRH? We don't have a hire car so would have to catch a taxi. Loving your reports :thumbsup2

IHOP is next to Skull Kingdom, almost opposite Wet n Wild. It would probably take about 5 minutes in a taxi.

great day, love the photo of curious George :sunny:

We went to IHOP twice this year for breakfast and I think we will now do this regularly. We were staying on site at Saratoga Springs and the one we went to was just past Downtown Disney near Lake Buena Vista

Great report and photos. Thanks

Susan
