Laurs & Andy do the Universe and the World Day Four
Me Laurs 27
DH Andy 28
Day four 24 September 2006 do Americans go to bed early?
After a much more peaceful night and a well needed lie in, we got up about 8.45 am. We didnt realise at this point that we could get breakfast from the concierge lounge (having never been lucky enough to stay concierge anywhere before) so Andy goes and gets our cereal and apple juice from Emack and Bolios.
As yesterday was such a long day, we decide to have a relaxing morning before heading out to Islands Of Adventure in the afternoon. We head to Walgreens (yeah, I love this shop) about 10 am and pick up some water, cereal bars and a $10 phone card. When we get back to the HRH, I ring my mum to let her know how were doing, about our exciting upgrade and, of course, to find out the all-important football results.
We then head out to one of the quiet hot tubs and chill out in the sunshine and beautiful hot water.
We change and head out to IOA about 1 pm, by which time we are both really hungry. I am very disappointed that the Green Eggs and Ham café is shut (because I do like green eggs and ham, I do, I do, I do, Sam!) so we go to Circus McGurkus for lunch instead. We get two small caesar salads, a chocolate chip cookie to share and a fanta.
We watch the new Suess Train Trolley going round above our heads and decide to check that out next. Well, this is one ride I definitely wont be going on again, I was absolutely petrified! I am very scared of heights and the fact that I could see the track and how thin it was all the way round made me feel very sick. Disappointingly, we were on the track that didnt go through the café, but I dont think Ill mind missing it.
We decided to do something calming after this so we head to the Jurassic Park Discovery Centre and splice our DNA with a dinosaur and end up looking freakishly similar! We also hatched a dinosaur egg and guessed which dino it belonged to, and checked out the big moving dinosaurs.
We then watched the Sinbad show as we hadnt done this since our first visit. We enjoyed the effects and the corny jokes (sheesh, Kabob!) We went back to the café to get some rainbow dippin dots as this is the only place they seem to have them, and then Andy headed off to do Duelling Dragons, and I did the Carosuessel and the Cat in the Hat. I was so concerned that some man was trying to look up my skirt when I got on the Carosuessel, that I banged my leg really hard and had a huge bruise. It was only afterwards I realised that his son was sat next to me, ho hum.
We hadnt done Spiderman for a bit, as last time it made us both feel weird, but we did both have colds at the time, so we decided to try it again and loved it! I hadnt decided whether to keep my eyes open for the sensory drop at the end, but at the crucial moment the little boy next to me dropped his 3D glasses, and I picked them up for him. I think it was probably best for both of us that we missed it!
We finished up our day with a complete drenching on Popeye and Blutos Bilge Rat Barges. As usual, I think I got the most wet, but I love it so laughed all the way round.
We popped in the Universal shop on our way out of the park, and bought a Spiderman glass for my brother, and a Spiderman t-shirt for our friend Sebastian for Christmas, as they both love the web slinging one.
We left the park then and went back to the HRH to bath and get into some dry clothes! We went to Race Rock for tea as we both love this place but havent finished a meal here yet! Andy had a Cuban sandwich and I had southern fried chicken with a ham and cheese dressing, garlic mash and coleslaw. It was really good and I was disappointed that I couldnt do it justice.
We went to my favourite shop, Walgreens, on the way home and I got some nail polish remover, Sally Hansen leg makeup and some apple juice for breakfast. We also popped in the tourist shop to get a postcard book and some stamps.
We nipped into the concierge lounge to check it out on the way back to our room, and picked up a couple of cans of sprite. We headed downstairs to the Velvet Room for a couple of drinks, malibu for me and whisky for Andy. We were the only ones in the place, so we decided that Americans must go to bed early! We made it into bed by 12.15 pm.
No pics today so here's a nice one from our first day:
