Laurs & Andy do the Universe and the World Day Eleven
Me Laurs 27
DH Andy 28
Day eleven 1 October 2006 singing aliens and sleepy Laurs
Mickey and Stitch woke us up at 8.30 am this morning. We had a cup of coffee in the room and then Andy went to get us some breakfast from the food court. He came back with froot loops for me, frosted flakes for himself and a croissant for us to share. Fully breakfasted and rested after a long day yesterday we set out to MGM Studios, sorry Disney Studios (thats going to take some getting used to), arriving around 10.50 am.
We went first on my favourite ride here, Star Tours, and then went to watch the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, again something else we havent done since our first visit. We both enjoyed the show.
We stopped for lunch at the ABC Comissionary, a first for us, and thought it was a nice cool place to eat. We both had a cuban sandwich with plaintain chips (which were kinda weird but tasty all the same) and fanta. There was an old guy working in there, making the kids (and me) laugh by making his shoes squeak. He was very sweet and gave the kids sat near us some badges.
After refuelling, we watched the Muppet 3D show and Lights, Motors, Action. I was so knackered from the previous day that I am ashamed to say I slept through most of this! Luckily I have seen it a couple of times before.
We had a look round some shops and I bought a Halloween pin for my lanyard. It is a Mickey head in a ghost costume, much like the huge balloons they have at MNSSHP. We also got a blue raspberry cooler which was very yummy and refreshing.
We went back to the AKL around 4.30 pm and had baths and freshened up. We were back out and at the Magic Kingdom by 6.45 pm. We had some tea at Starlight Rays Café, another first for us. We both had hotdogs and fries and diet cokes the hot dog line being the shortest. I loved watching the singing alien and in my sleepy mood, probably could have sat and watched him for the rest of the night!
We made our way over to Main Street where I had a stroller rammed into the back of me and it nearly took my legs out from under me. To be fair, it was the fault of the woman who stopped dead in front of us (thanks) but it hurt pretty bad and I was exceedingly disappointed not to have a humongous bruise to prove it. To make matters worse when we got to the ice cream place, they no longer have cookie dough ice cream, arrrgggghhh! Had to make do with chocolate chip which was actually really nice, and I think exactly the same as cookie dough with the cookie removed (if that makes sense!)
Ice cream in hand, we grabbed a space behind one of the barriers to watch Spectromagic, my favourite Disney parade, bliss. We then found a spot on the Tomorrowland bridge as usual to watch Wishes. I daresay I cried all the way through.
After Wishes we went on the Haunted Mansion and then waited a ridiculous 45 minutes to go on POTC. In the pirates shop, Andy bought a pirate chest to put his rings in, and I got a black skull and crossbones t-shirt which says The beatings will continue until morale improves I was looking forward to wearing this to work!
We went on Winnie the Pooh and had a quick spin on Buzz Lightyear (will I ever redeem myself on this ride? Stay tuned) and then we left the park and arrived back at the AKL at 12.20 pm. I had a fuzzy navel and Andy had a gin and tonic, and then we fell into bed at 1 am.
