Laur’s, Andy and bump do LA and Vegas, baby – Day 10

Laur’s – 29
Andy – 29
Bump – 14 weeks

Sunday 30 March 2008

After our late one the night before we had a bit of a lie in and got up at 9 am. I was very sleepy so Andy went to fetch us breakfast from the Backstage Deli - tea, coffee, apple juice and breakfast bagels.

After breakfast, we went down to the lobby so that I could phone my mum and Andy went to get stamps and post our postcards.

We set out for the day at 11 am, stopping first at the MGM Grand to see the Lion Habitat. We were amazed at the keepers sitting nonchalantly in the enclosure with the lions! I am pretty squeamish at the moment and watching the lions crunch on bones was a bit too much!

We bought day passes for the monorail and rode it to the Flamingo. We walked through the Flamingo and on to the Venetian. I was amazed and excited to discover a David and Goliath shop. We spent ages looking round and I finally came out with a t-shirt (Monster I'd like to fluff) and three lipbalms, one for me (I understand, I just don't care in strawberry), one for my sister (yellow snow in lemon) and another for a friend (my boyfriend told me to be more affectionate so I got two boyfriends in grape). It was a cold day (comparatively) and I was inappropriately dressed for the weather, so I went to the restrooms to change into my new t-shirt.

We had lunch next at the deli in the food court. I had a cup of tea and Andy had a coffee (I told you it was cold!) and we shared a cheese sandwich and a chicken caesar salad.

We wanted to take an indoor gondola ride so we went and booked a time, 3.20 pm. Although it was a little while off, we decided that there wasn't really time to go anywhere else before our ride, so we just had a look round the hotel and shops.

We shared our gondola with another couple and our gondolier whose name was Giuseppe. He sang to us on the way round and had us make wishes under the bridges. It was a lovely ride but over far too quickly.

We walked over the road to Caesars Palace and stopped in at Victorias Secret so that I could get some underwear. We wanted to watch the show at the Atlantis fountain which was due to start shortly, so we sat and watched the fish in the tanks nearby for a while, which was nice and relaxing and appreciated by our feet! The show is animatronic and we were impressed by the statues disappearing and animatronic figures appearing in their place. It was quite difficult to follow the story, but the effects were good and I especially liked all the fire because it went a long way towards warming me up!

When the show had finished, we part walked and part monorailed our way back to the hotel, arriving back at 6 pm. We had baths and then did the monorail/walk thing the other way again until we reached Margaritaville around 7.55 pm. We were told there would be approximately a 35 minute wait so we played on the ring toss for a while (I eventually managed it), looked round the shop and had sat down in the amazing wooden chairs for only a few minutes when our pager went off at 8.15 pm.

We were seated by a very unenthusiastic server and ordered a volcano boat drink for Andy and a parakeet punch (orange juice, pineapple juice and grenadine) for me. The server looked at me as though I needed locking up when I asked for a non-alcoholic drink! I can't wait until I look pregnant! For food, Andy had a cheeseburger in paradise and I had a mushroom cheeseburger. The food (and service, for that matter) wasn't a patch on what we have had in Florida - the burgers were really salty.

We walked back to the Luxor - it took about ten minutes longer just walking as opposed to using the monorail as well - arriving back at 10 pm.

We got some drinks from the shop - sierra mist soda, Tropicana peach and papaya and Budweiser and took them to our room. We watched George Lopez and Home Improvement before bed.

Dad and I looked at the gondolas inside the Venetian and said they didn't really seem to 'go anywhere.'

We liked the Flamingo and want to stay there next time we go.

I have always wanted to stay at the Venetian. Lovely day Laur's - I'm with Nats, though, I feel bad for those poor lions - there was no meat on those bones for a start ;)

Excellent again Laur's :thumbsup2 .I'm with the others-poor lions :sad1: .The Gondola ride thingy looks great-that water looks so nice+blue. Is that a Cheesecake Factory i spy in one of the photo's-yummy.Excellent photo's.x.

Lovely day Laur's. I like the look of the Venetian:thumbsup2

The Flamingo does look fun, I love the kitsch theming :) We'll probably be staying at the Gold Coast (just off the strip) unless I can get a mega deal on one of the nice strip hotels ;) There was a CF and you didn't eat there? Sacrelidge! :rotfl2:

Loving reading your report. You seem to have managed to fit in so many things.

Another very full day for you both (and Bump)! Glad to hear the lions aren't in that enclosure for long - they did look quite miserable. I would hate to sit there and get gawped at while I ate my dinner like they do!

Sara. :)
