Laundry tips?

I've read on other Disney-related discussion boards about a laundry tip -- prepack some laundry 'tablets' instead of overpaying for the laundry detergent at the resort hotels (especially since each load is $2.00!).

Who has used this technique? What brand of 'tablets' are available? I found the "Spray and Wash" in-wash tablets, but it indicates that they are to be used in addition to regular laundry detergent.

I found on the "tide" website 'rapid action tabs.' Has anyone used these before? I also found an '8 use' travel sized liquid detergent container (for $3.99, IIRC) that could work out as well.

What have others done in the past?

I've used the Tide and Surf tablets. Before that, I measured out powdered laundry detergent into snack sized zip lock bags and then sealed them in another bigger zip lock. I also used the Spray N Wash tablets, but I think I'm going to use a gel instead so I can treat stains as they happen. Don't forget to pack the dryer sheets if you use them!

I have used the wisk tablets. I also throw in a stain stick and a couple of dryer sheets as well as taking some of the shout wipes. I will do laundry one on longer vacations but always take the supplies with me in case I need them.

Another great trick is to use one of the colapsable hampers. It folds tiny and serves as a hamper and a clothes basket. The ones I am talking about have the wires in the side seams and the body is mesh. You can find them in the laundry isle of Walmart. They fit great under the sink in the hotel room and are strong enough to carry to the laundry. They even have a pocket for your detergent.

I like Wisk tablets. I also bring a 25 ct box of Downy sheets. I share with people I see buying laundry products. I also bring a small disposable plastic bottle filled with Dawn dish washing liquid. I use Dawn instead Shout. I think it works better, especially on chocolate.

I like Wisk, too.

Target carries some smaller amounts of the tablets in the "travel size" section". Otherwise, they also come in big boxes in the detergent aisle.

herc.

Another vote for Wisk. They come two to a pack. When we stay in timeshares, we often have a smaller stacked washer. One tablet is just right for a load.

I also bring along extra dishwasher tablets (usually Electrasol). Even though the resorts furnish some dw powder, with a family of six we run the dishwasher at least once, sometimes twice a day and always run out of what they provide.

I put Shout in a 35 mm film canister for travel. Very convenient. I also, put powdered detergent in a baggie, premeasured.

First time I didnt expect to do laundry, But we all got alittle sick, So I bought the soap there

Next time I brought the Wisk Tablets Just in case But I still thought I packed enough.. I was wrong. For our Afternoon rests, my daughter wanted a fresh outfit, Clean everything, ( I cant blame her it was HOT)

But both Times I didnt have a bag so I just used the Pillowcase from a pillow to carry the stuff back and forth, and I washed the pillow case..
