Later hours at AK?

We were at WDW last year for presidents week. The latest AK was open was 7 pm. During the summer the latest the AK was open when we were there was 6 pm with EMH making it open until 9. We are going back for Easter break and AK appears to be open until 8 every night with one night of EMH during our stay so we assume open until 11PM!!


Is the consensus that they are keeping the park open later due to EE?

I think EE maybe part of it, but park hours are usually driven by WDW's estimate on park attendance during that day/week. If hours go up that usually indicates that crowd levels will be higher.

I was trying to compare my recolaection of similarly busy time frames. I know that last year during presidents wekks Ak was not open past 7. I was there one night till closing.

Disney had announced that when Everest opens AK will be open later hours, so I'd say that's the primary reason!

I always thought they closed AK early because the animals went to bed with the sun. Maybe they will still close the attractions with live animals early...
