So While I don't linger much on the boards until I have a trip planned, I just saw that DVC is moving into the GF, thats great.

BUT.... why can't we get cabins or 3 bedroom villas at VWL????:confused3

Have always wondered why not, anyone know?

VWL does not have cabins or 3-bedrooms - neither does BCV. when they were developed not alot of DVC members were using the GV - lots of time they were empty - they are much too expensive to be empty - so BCV and VWL did not get them.

now you can use your points and get a cabin at FW - it is expensive.

With the success of THV maybe we will see similar in the FW/WL area. Maybe on the old water park site.

I think because VWL and BCV were much smaller than the 2 resorts built earlier (OKW, BWV), they decided not to include GV's because they take up alot of space. I think they thought the smaller room sizes would be more in demand.

You can book FW Cabins with points.

After reading the OP's post, I started looking at the satellite map of VWL. There seems to be room for another wing at VWL. Just connect it to the center lobby area of VWL and then bring it down the shore line. What I don't know is if the area is too swampy to hold the weight of another building.

As to cabins--that doesn't go with VWL but with FW IMO. And since we can rent the FW cabins using our points we're covered.

nice pic, but what do you means cabins dont go with VWL? I can just picture a bunch of cottages/cabins like at Vero in the woods along the lake!! It would be awsome!!!

You can't compare a 1 bedroom cabin at fort wilderness to something like a beach cottage at Vero, or even a 3 bedroom villa at SSR or OKW

What I don't know is if the area is too swampy to hold the weight of another building.

the front area is definitely too swampy - you can see water after a rainfall in the front.

the back area don't know.

you have marked over the trail to FW - that was originally to FW - even before WL was build - so don't know if building there is even possible. didn't that area get flood with the last hurricane?

that sandy trail is still there, we rode bikes on it maybe a year ago, but it dead ends into the barn area (or did), i know there was a way to continue on the trails, (walking) along the lake, around the water park. etc but i think they are all closed off/ When down in April, my son and i are going on an adventure, i saw trails behind the trading post and will see where they go, maybe out to Osprey ridge, idk.
