late June or mid July for a Paris and DLP trip?

We are going on a cruise out of Barcelona next July (the 3rd) 2016 for a week. We have decided to add time in Paris either before or after our trip.

Is there a better time crowd wise to visit both Paris and DLP? Would we be better off going before (last week in June) or after July 11th.

Before would be better as French schools don't break up until the 5th of July - after that you will be in high season and it will be very busy around the 14th of July which is the Fête nationale

Thanks so much for the information. We should be able to to swing late june no problem as school is slated to end here for our boy in Mid June. Any tips on navigating from central Paris to DLP?
