Late dining and pirate party

I was wondering if the 2nd seating interfered with the pirate party and buffet? It would seem we would get out of dinner to late for the party and be too full to take advantage of the buffet. What are people's experience with this. I don't want to miss a pirate themed dinner but I would if it caused us to miss the festivities.

Nope, no need to worry. On the three cruises that we have been on, all have been on the 2nd seating (including one night of having a late dinner at Palo) and we have never missed the Pirate activities on the deck.

We did not miss the pirate party because of late seating, but we did not participate in the buffet because we were still stuffed from dinner.

We have always made it to the party, but you really have to hold back at dinner if you want the buffet. Usually we are too completely stuffed to even THINK about the buffet.

It is possible to make it to the pirate party with 2nd seating, but you need to be aware of the time and help make it happen. We did a b2b last year, and the first leg, we chatted with the servers about going up to the party after, etc and they made sure we were done on time. The second leg, we weren't in such a hurry, dds wanted to go to vibe instead, and we lingered over coffee with dessert. Now, we probably would have made it, but the elevators were crazy packed with everyone else wanting to go to the same place, so we missed the beginning. Again, not an issue to us, but at the same time, it's not like our servers were rushing us out so we wouldn't miss it. I hope that makes sense!

I remember seeing images of the pirate night buffet, but only remember seeing desserts. Is it a dessert buffet only?

When we have gone, they always have giant Turkey Legs, Taco Bar/Chili Bar, and a few other non-dessert things that I can't seem to remember. They also have crepes and ice cream, very yummy!!

If we just went to topsiders would that be better? Do you have to go there at your scheduled dining time or can you just go in whenever? Do they serve the same types of food? Im still a little confused about how they run topsiders for dinner. I have been on two other cruises and there's were always open buffet at dinner.
