Late check out?

Has anyone experience with a late check out at AKL or BLT? Would it be possible, and is there an extra fee? TIA!

There wouldn't be a fee, but it's very unlikely they'll agree. They have a hard enough time turning rooms over, resulting in folks not getting their rooms on time when they're trying to check in (plenty of those stories on these boards). It doesn't hurt to ask, they will grant it. but was very rare even before all the world craziness.

When we’ve really needed it, we just booked an extra night so we could have more time in the room even though we didn’t actually stay overnight.

I've started doing that as well with my DVC stays. It's do-able given that the total cost of using points is very reasonable; it would be painful to do at a Deluxe hotel rate!

We don't need the day- was just wondering as our flight isn't until evening...Would be nice to have the private bathroom, shower, etc. but we can make use of the ones near the pool.

That is why we always book the extra night for late flights. If we are leaving 5 pm or letter, we spend the extra points.

That's exactly what we have done several times as well, usually when we have a very late-in-the-day flight so we still have a room for the day.

Pro tip:

If staying at BRV, use the quiet pool and the showers in the locker room at Sturdy Branches... Much better than your typical pool restrooms, and it's right across the walkway.

Another option is to get a day room at the Hyatt Regency MCO. The rate is not too shabby, you get a hotel room and pool access. Plus you're already at the airport and can shop. I mean plane watch.

On our most recent trip we requested a late check out and was able to get a 1pm checkout as opposed to 11 am. I have also gotten the same on a previous trip in 2021. Both DVC.
