I know that this has been discussed and debated before but for the life of me, I can not figure this place out. In all my stays at other DVC or hotel stays I have never had a room check in later than 3:45. Today at BCV's we arrived there at 10 a.m. after 8 nights at VWL and we left our luggage and went to he parks. We come back at 3:30 and rooms not ready we come back at 4:15 and room not ready, and finally at 5:15 we are in our room with no luggage and no chance to clean up for 5:30 dinner reservations at Via Nappoli... etc ...blah blah blah. What is wrong with this hotel as there are more complaints about late checkins than other resorts. Is it bad management , lack of employees. We always have trouble here. I wish that they could figure it out

I would say it is lack of people checking out before 11am, causing an overload on mouse keeping.

Did you check-in with your luggage or did you have it transferred? If you brought it with you, you should have picked it up at the bell desk. They only automatically deliver it if you are on DME.

I left it at front desk at 10 a.m. And I do not buy the late checkouts for this I just think that it must be bad management

You certainly are entitled to your own opinion. If you choose to take a very negative view, you will feel negativly.
Beach Club Villas run at over 90% capacity all the time. Just a few who "linger" past 11, and things get backed up.
We own at BCV and have spent many vacations here. We have never waited for our Villa past 4:30 PM. We have even had it available on mid morning check in. Since it seems you have had late check ins on more than one occasion, and it is upsetting to you, maybe you should stay at a different resort which meets your expectations better.
Good Luck

I'd venture a guess that housekeeping had a bigger job with guests having Christmas in their rooms the day before. More trash, more cleanup. And lots of guests self extending their stay. The many times we have stayed at BCV, we got in before 4PM about half the time.

I know when we checked into OKW one year on New Years Day, we checked in around 7AM. Our villa wasn't ready until about 6PM because the guests left their stuff in the villa and headed to the parks. They finally left about 3:30 or 4PM. Disney doesn't kick people out of the room just because they overstay. Then the housekeepers were supposed to get off at 4PM, but the guests had a big NYE party in the villa and absolutely trashed it. It took about an hour just to clean up the mess. The housekeepers were coming out of the villa with bags and bags of garbage.

Wow, I guess we've been really forunte then at BCV. On almost all check-ins, our room's been ready, even when I checked in at 10:45. The one time it wasn't at 3:15 and we returned after 5:00 and it still wasn't ready, the CM said "Well, it IS after 4:00, so we'll give you a room." Then, she found one that didn't quite meet all our requests but was ready, and gave us that, since apparently the other was a ? This last time, our room wasn't ready and apparently "the computer system crashed" or so we said, so they made us sit in the lobby, not go anywhere. It only took 20 minutes, then our room was ready and they were so appologetic (although we didn't complain, it all was perfectly reasonable) they gave us turn-down service and chocolates every night.

We have had late room readies after 5 at all of the resorts. Between 3 and 4 is the most common, at SSR our latest was 7:30 and they had to finish cleaning it while we were there. Doesn't seem to matter when we check in, I will sometimes check in at 7 AM thinking that we will get an early room but that doesn't seem to matter.

One of the major factors is the number of rooms in your category matching your requests and the day of the week.

Yes, very much negativity in my post????? Is it wrong to ask why? And Why should I stay at another resort when I own there and pay
My dues there and it states that I should have a room by 4. It happened and I asked a question I certainly don't need you to reccomend that I stay at another resort

Actually Disney changed the wording to having your room ready after 4.

rooms don't need to be ready till 4 pm or after. $4pm is the real check-in time.
You can check in anytime after 6:30 am (I think) and if you gte a room early consider yourself lucky. Most hotels check-in starts at 3pm I think:thumbsup2

I have to agree that Disney does not even say rooms will be ready by 4 but that they specifically say after 4. We have experienced getting a room at 4:30 at BCV but we've also experienced the same at BLT. Otherwise in general we often are arriving into MCO shortly after 4PM and our rooms have been ready by the time we hit the resorts anywhere from 5PM or later.

The only question I have with this is how long AFTER 4:00 pm are we supposed to accept? 4:30 is after 4:00, but then again so is 11:00 pm.

We've actually been very fortunate with check-in's at BCV however we have noticed something in the last 3 years. Housekeeping suddenly is always knocking on the door. We did a split stay and housekeeping was knocking on our door at 8:10a to see when we were checking out. Our May 2013 stay they knocked every afternoon - once twice - to do towel/trash run :confused3. The one day the housekeeper asked me to initial that I refused service. At the start of the May stay we'd placed our cases in BS and - as is our normal practice - we went to BS stand to pick up our luggage. The BS said they'd deliver them to the room but I said we'd just rather pick them up because I'd placed the room keys in the front pocket. The guy promised me we'd meet at the door of the room so I said ok. I looked at DH like don't bug me if we standing in the hall and I'll be darn if they weren't at the door about 5 minutes after us along with the groceries we'd had delivered by WeGoShop.

I will say the check in people are kinda ... off ... nice but ... I don't know they always seem a bit puzzled by what they see on the screen.

Housekeeping has to push to get their job done before they go home which is around 4:00. The sooner that they can get into a room, the sooner they can start cleaning. Guests check out starting at 5:00 for an 8:00 flight.

Bell Services insisted that they deliver your luggage because they make their money with tips. The reason that Disney says that you have to be in your room to accept deliveries from Bell Services is because they made an agreement with the Union to increase tips.

FWIW the only time DH or I have run into a hotel that won't let you do the checkin *process* is when DH was in NYC at one specific boutique hotel (he got a GREAT deal through an online TA site). They literally would not do the checkin process until the time listed on their site.

I have read that Bonnet Creek won't do checkins earlier than 4, too. But we haven't stayed there.

All other hotels we've stayed at or read of allow the *process* of checking in as soon as their hotel-day switches over.

The thinking that it's bad management is the negativity people are reading.

You have to call Bell Services (or stop by the desk on your way up to the room) to have them deliver your bags. They aren't informed that you are there, and they won't deliver them unless you are there.

That look was permanently etched on the CM's face during our BWV check-in a few weeks ago....... And our MB's kept losing more and more ability - kind of what she predicted but couldn't do anything about. :badpc:

The first time we went to DL in 2006, we tried to check into the Grand Californian before offical check in time and were told we could not do that.

We checked in at 11AM at the Grand Californian this past September. Went to Disneyland. Got a text that our room was ready at 3PM, and even got our exact room request.

Yes, we had heard they had changed things at DL. We couldn't get our park admission added to our room key and we couldn't use the room key for charging (they gave us a paper slip with that information on it). DL has finally met up with WDW I think.
