Late Arrival suggestions

Folks - We have a late (ok maybe not SO late) arrival (7PM plane landing) with resev at AKL on 10/31. I'm looking for advice on 1) room selection ... is there anything I can do ahead of check-in to be sure I have a very nice room, and 2) looking for suggestions for things to do that evening. I'm sure just exploring AKV since it's our first time there will take up a good ortion of the time if we want to.

If you're landing at 7pm you're probably going to arrive at the resort by 8pm at the very earliest. If you're up to eating late, make an ADR at Jiko or Boma to relax and unwind. If it were me, I'd just enjoy the resort for the evening....get a drink in the lounge after dinner, explore the grounds and pool area, etc. I don't know about requesting certain rooms for a late check-in since we've never gotten to WDW past 3pm. My guess is that you'll get whatever's remaining from everyone else who has checked in before you. At least by that time of day your room is sure to be ready . Enjoy your trip!

I think RLRDA has it right. After 8pm and you are going to get what hasn't been taken already. You have to keep in mind that this typically means other people have made choices based on (View/Location) not quality of rooom or quality of service.

If the view or location is important to you... you may want to do what many people do and take a room offsite somewhere between the airport and WDW to just hop into bed for the evening and then get up and get to the resort first thing am to be first on list for when the type of room you want.

Not much else you can do, but enjoy what you get.

Well, first, I'd have a drink at Victoria Falls lounge and then head down to Jiko for a quiet dinner. Animal Kingdom Lodge is gorgeous and I think you can sit there hours enjoying the beautiful details.
