I may be completely and totally paranoid but I chose jan 27th as my arrival date thinking the earlier ones would be closed by the time my friend was accepted. He was accepted yesterday and now I'm wishing I chose an earlier one instead. I have a few fears...

- Late arrival date will mean last licks on apartments as well as job locations. Basically we'll be stuck with whats left.
- Everyone will have cliques and friends already.
- It won't be eligible for the room mate matching service.

Can anyone help me get rid of these fears.
Also, I know switching dates is a huge no according to disney but has anyone ever actually been able to or know someone that did.

I think that you are over thinking everything. Ican't speak to the room mate matching service because truth be told I didnt get involved in any of that but there will definetly be good apartments left in all the developments and your job location wont be limited by when you start work. And honestly dont worry about "everybody already having cliques and friends" because as long as you are personable you will have as many friends as you can make.

I'm also gonna be arriving Jan 27th...I mainly chose a later date so that I could get into non-wellness with my 21st b-day on Jan 31st....but still I think there isn't much to worry about concerning friends. There are only a certain amount of people that can arrive each of those arrival dates available so there will be just as many people coming Jan 27th as there are earlier dates I would imagine. As for your roles and job locations, I'm pretty sure that is pretty much pre-determined when you are accepted and shouldn't have to do with the arrival date, but I could be wrong. Either way it'll be a blast....108 days!

I picked a later arrival date, too. January 25th. I am kind of having the same worries as you but then I remember that there is still almost 2 months left for them to accept people and most schools haven't even had their presentations yet so I think that ALL OF THE DATES are going to fill up and there should be an even amount of CP people arriving on the same day. As for apartment selection I am not really worried either because people are constantly moving in and out...it seems like a big constant rotation :thumbsup2

I can't imagine that there would be any difference for any date that you go.

Reasons being:
- People will be leaving right before you check in. That's what your room choices will be based on. Just like everyone else before you.
- Job choices are pretty much completely random, aside from the few people I've heard of requesting and getting a "maybe". No one's going to get better job before you. And again, you will be replacing people who leave from the last program so jobs will be opening up FOR you.
- There will be just as many people coming the day that you check in as the days that everyone else checks in. They have welcoming parties and everything. You'll have your roommates and workmates to become friends with. and your neighbors. And you're going with a friend so you have a leg up on everyone else.

exactly what everyone else has said...

you'll be fine :)

I departed my program on august 7th and there were people moving in 3 days later with the new season coming in. We also had departure dates on the 14th and 21st, so there are always a big amount of CPs leaving just before another big group comes in.

and with the popularity of the CP, I wouldn't worry about you're date not having very many people. There will be PLENTY of people checking in the same date as you.

If you are really worried about it still I have a couple suggestions for you:

1. you could try calling disney and see if they can change your date. I'm not sure if they would or not, but it never hurts to ask.

2. Join the facebook groups and get to talking to some people with the same arrival date as you :)

3. I made a HUGE (65 person+ ) dinner reservation for the night before at the rainforest cafe at DTD for all the january 21st people checked in for SA 09. It was a huge success and it gave us all the chance to get that awkwardness out of the way, and by the time check in rolled around the next morning it was like we were already great friends.

good luck, and don't worry at all. Everything will work out great for you!!

Thank you so much guys! I get really worried about silly stuff like this so it's great to have people assuring me of stuff.

Thats so awesome! Was your January 21st eligible for the room mate matching service?

yeah it was. All of our dates were. Then we also found 2 other girls who were going to be roomies that wanted to room with us, so we just stood by them in line and all 4 of us got to be together... we ended up with a 4 bedroom because disney housing said that if all 4 of us wanted to room together it was fine, but we either had to go with a 2 bedroom so we had 100% occupancy.... or a 4 bedroom so we had 50% occupancy. SO we chose the 4 bedroom.

Now, with that being said, 3 months into my program I moved apartments. I was VERY unhappy with my roommates. It's a long story and not one that I should probably post online, but just know that sometimes the whole roommate notification and picking your own roommates doesn't always work out in the end.

Sometimes it does... sometimes it doesn't. You'll see what I mean when you get down there. You'll notice people moving here and there haha.

Moving really is for the best, though. If you find yourself unhappy at 'home'... pay the 50 bucks to move. Trust me. it's so worth it. If you're miserable at the apartment, chances are you'll bring it to work and that wont make for a magical show :goodvibes

I really like this idea. Would anybody be interested in doing something like this before the January 6 check in?

I'm not sure if you have facebook, if you are part of the group for the spring arrivals, or if you have posted there already... but if you haven't, then you should!! That's where I found all the people for my dinner :-) It's a lot of fun and takes a lot of organization.

Also, when I booked it at the rainforest cafe, they required NO Credit Card, but when my friend booked the same type of reservation at the same restaurant for fall semester, they required him to put a credit card down and they made him pay 17.50 for everyone that didn't show up.... so... just know what you're dealing with when you book the reservation :-)

Yikes!

There's a new Facebook group for Jan. 6, so I might end up trying to organize something there. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

What's the link for the January 6th group on Facebook? I'm having trouble finding it.

Thanks!

Nevermind, I found it. This group is going to help a lot with meeting everyone. Great idea!
