Due to crazy high airfares we are now scheduled to arrive the night before at 9:30pm. We are going to stay the night at POR then check into BLT the next day. How will magical express work with a 9:30pm arrival? Also has anyone been able to check in a bit earlier at BLT?

I would want to know how to get my luggage not to POR but just go to BLT and wait for you there. We have a similar issue but different resorts.

I hadn't thought of that...you know what... that makes alot of sense. How would I arrange that?

I don't believe that you can arrange that. The luggage will be delivered to the resort you are staying at that night.
To the OP, as long as you have the required reservation with your arrival time noted, ME will be waiting for you, even at that time of night.
Baggage Claim pickup by ME now ends at 10:00 PM. If you are late you will have to go to baggage claim yourself and claim your luggage. Then you will bring it to the bus yourself, and it will be placed under the same bus you are going in to POR. The driver will unload it for you at POR and you will be all set. If you plan on doing it yourself, do NOT put the yellow ME tags on your bags when you leave home.
If you land on time, you can have ME claim your luggage and deliver it to your room. Be aware however, it takes up to 3 hours after you land for your luggage to be delivered to you. That is getting pretty late.
You could plan to pack everything you need for that night and the next day in your carryon. Let ME pick up your luggage and tell them at POR you want it held with Bell Services overnight, rather than delivered to your room. Then in the morning you could just go to Bell Services and arrange to have your luggage transferred from there to BLT.
Yes you can check into BLT early. Even though your Villa will likely not be ready, you can get your KTTW card with any package entitlements on it, and head out to a park for the day. They will text you or call you when your room is ready.
Have a Great Trip.

Moving to Transportation, where the ME experts hang out. :)

Since the OP is arriving close to the DME luggage delivery closing time, I would recommend getting the bags and bringing them to the bus with you. It will add about 15 mins to your overall time, but at least you will be sure you get your bags that night. Otherwise, you may miss the cutoff time and your bags won't be picked up until the next morning, and then they will be delivered to POR, not BLT!

The next morning, I would just hand my bags off to Luggage Assistence at POR. They will transfer the bags over to BLT. Or, you can take a cab, with your bags, directly to BLT. You may be able to get into your room earlier than the official checkin time, but I wouldn't count on it. Better to be pleasantly surprised if you do get in early.

You can get checked in, give them your cell phone number to call you when the room is ready, and then go off to a park. MK would make the most sense. The only issue I have with Disney moving the bags is that it more often than not, takes the entire day. I always hand off my bags by 7:30-8 and never get the bags in my next resort room until well past 5pm!!! Drives me nuts.
I am seriously considering just taking a cab, with my bags, the next time I switch resorts.
