Late April/Early May 2010 car rental deals?

I'm not familiar with Budget's check in procedures since I normally rent from Alamo or National and just check myself in at one of the Kiosk rather than waiting in line so I never even talk to an agent.

So Alamo has a kiosk to rent from? Do you need to join any sort of club ahead of time to use that? We typically rent from Budget Fast Break since it is so convenient, but the rate from Alamo is better so we would do that if renting from them is also convenient.

And the rate for Alamo with the BJ's discount is $276 for 4/20 - 4/27 full size car. I am a BJ's member so I would have no worries about using that rate.

Just wanted to add that you can put all your information in online so checking in at the kiosk is quick and easy. It will print out your paperwork, go to the garage and pick out a car, give the paperwork and credit card to the person in the booth on the way out. Couldn't be any easier.

Ok - just got done rebooking using Entertainment Book coupon for 2-class upgrade. Got a full-size with all taxes for May 1st-8th plus 3 additional hours for $234.xx. Hope that helps.

I used the Costco code and coupon and was able to get a midsize from May 17-31 for $323.00.I thought that was a great price for a 2 week rental. We are traveling with my parents who also rented a car, so we can get by with 2 midsize cars, but I am hoping rates will come down so we can get a minivan. Prices for those are astronomical right now.

The rates at Thrifty were basically the same without codes. I found higher rates when I used the magic card code and the Kiss code.

Alamo will save you a few dollars. Total is $245.01 using Costco Code 7014627 and coupon AD8Z59SDZ

Do you think there is any chance they will ask for the membership card? And what would happen if they asked and I said I didnt bring it with me? Costco has a coupon for Budget that gives you $25 off a weekly rental as well as a free upgrade (on top of the already discounted rate). This gives me a full size (+ upgrade) for 4/20 - 4/27 for $297 after taxes, fees, and coupon. Plus we like Budget because the spouse can drive for no extra fees.

I think there is a promotion out there if you join Costco. I think membership is around $50 but they give you $50 in various coupons. But I would hate to join for nothing.

Another one here that would love to use the Costco code for Alamo, as it shaves $80 off my rental, but I don't have my own card. My parents have the Costco membership in our family, so I go to the store when they go, but they aren't travelling with me on this upcoming trip.

I've used the Walmart code lots of times with no problem, but I'm leery on using the Costco code. Need a little more reassurance that they don't actually ask to see your membership card...
