I have only ever been to DL around the last week of May/first week of June. Since we are moving closer 
we'll hopefully get to go more often. So here's my question ... how are the crowds the last weekend of Aug? Are they still the typical summer crowds, or do they start to taper off as it gets closer to school starting? Normally I wouldn't care, but we would be taking my parents for their first time, and to make it harder, we'd only be able to go for one day on Sunday. The park hours for the day are from 8a - 11p. It is my mom's b-day weekend so that would be a great side trip for her!
My mom already booked her nonrefundable flight, so that is all we have to work with for this trip. We'd have to drive from AZ on Sat. We'd spend the night around DL, do the park the next day, then go back home. I will take any chance to go to DL, no matter how short of a time it is, but I want my mom and dad to have a great first experience. They are in their 50's, in pretty good health, but they are no park commandos. They aren't big thrill riders, so we wouldn't have to worry about Space and such. They are more of the Fantasyland, POTC riders and show see'rs.
I talked to my mom about it and they are exicted to go, even only for a day. I know they will come to visit us, but I am not sure how often they will be able to come. It could be a quite a while before they come again. So I think it all boils down to is DL mobbed that last weekend like a regular summer day, or do the crowds start to taper off at the end of summer? Who's been this time of year? Are we crazy? (Well I know the answer to the last question, I meant that rhetorically
