Last Two Weeks In August

At that time,it was hot.Crowds were moderate to huge on different days.We had a good tome and got to see all we wanted some times the ques were long. That was before Fast Pass so now I don't think it would be has bad.Parks were open late so you had plenty of time to tour.We would arrive early and tour to 11 or 11:30am then go back to resort for some pool time and rest in the AC in room. Then go back in late afternoon or early evening for more touring and nice dinner in the park. :flower: :sunny:

We've been 4 times during this time and these are our experiences.

1. Low to moderate crowds - most southern schools are back in session at this time :crowded:

2. Very Hot :sunny:

3. VERY HUMID

4. Short Rain shower every day at 3pm :umbrella:

5. The last week there is usually shortened park hours :hourglass

6. We hit the parks early - go back to swim and nap in the afternoon - return to parks/ Downtown Disney in evening.

7. Be sure to bring LOTS of water and sun screen

8. We've always had a magical time, thus our 4 trips during this time :wizard:

I'd have to say akghutton said it perfectly. We've been multiple times during that time frame.

 I have to agree, we were there last year at that time and we had a wonderful time.

we were there the 3rd week of August in 2003 and had quite a bit of rain. Only had one FULL sunny day the entire week, other days we lost a few hours here and there, more than the normal 3pm showers but not enough to keep us away from the parks. It wasn't as hot and humid as I expected and crowds were not too bad as many kids do head back to school that week.

We were there last year Aug.29-Sept.3 and it was fantastic!!!

Yes it was very HOT but the crowds were very LOW!!

We loved it so much last year that we are going back this year at the same time!!!!

The only problem we had was the hurricaines before our trip and on the last day of our trip. Our flight was the last flight out of MCO before they closed for 2 days  But that could never happen again....right?!?!

Gotta agree with akghutton also. We did the 3rd & 4th week in August in 2001. I,personally, loved it.....my DH, on the other hand, will not go in summer again. He's not a Heat Lover & I am.
I loved it so much, DS & I are going back 8/24 - 8/30.

One thing I will say & have said here before. I really think dealing with heat & humidity or crowds is a mind over matter type situation. You have to go into knowing it's going to be hot & that you are going to take the proper precautions. If you go into thinking "I hate heat" you are not going to be a very happy camper.

Hey MNMom, we were there the same time as you at WL, except we ended up in the hotel for those two days. Even so, I would go back again at that time in a heartbeat. Airfare was super cheap (460.00 for 4 from Boston), parks were not at all crowded, half the time the fast pass machines were covered, we never waited in line. Yes, it was hot. We started early and then went back to the hotel after lunch for a swim. Evenings were beautiful. School schedules have changed, so we will be going during April break this year. Hey that's less than 6 weeks away! :earboy2: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Make sure you have water for your crew and encourage them to drink whether they feel thirsty or not.
We all wore hats.
We stopped for breaks at the first request - no commando stuff, but we still saw a ton because of the lack of crowds.

we went during the 3rd week of august in 2003 and it was fine. we didn't find the crowds to be bad and the weather didn't really bother us, since weather at home is also very hot and humid in august. besides, the only time we can go these days is late may-end of august, so we just have to make do. i'd rather be at wdw in the heat and humidity than here at home in the same kind of weather!

Anyone been at that time ?
Opinions ?
Thanks

We were there last august 21-30th. It was quite hot & humid.. Being from NYC i'm used to humidity but I usually am not outside standing in the sun for extended periods of time. I found it had a detrimental effect on my patience! I would not wait for autographs or anything inthe sun for more than 5 or 10 minutes. It was just too much. I drank a lot of water & it didn't make me any more patient LOL! Oh and bring your poncho, you're gonna need it! But, I found the crowds to be not too bad except avoid MK on Saturdays at all costs! After the 28th, the crowds died considerably. A lot of kids must have started school that Monday. This year I pushed back our vacation a week to take advantage of that.

All in all, I wouldn't NOT go because of any of these things. We still had a blast...just not as many autpgraphs!

Elise

This is our time to go too! As you can see it is pretty packed with people from the Northeast!
