So much for Bakersfield! We had thought we reserved a room at a Super8. I called this afternoon, but should have known when I didn't get a confirmation # and they didn't take a credit card. So now we're on our way to Tulare, the hotel will take us and tomorrow we'll see about getting the reservation switched over to a points stay.

Hope Tulare was better than Bakersfield....but isn't Tulare SMALLER than Bakersfield?

Tulare has some amount of charm due to it's size. I don't know what it is about Bakersfield, all those years that Johnny Carson gave it a hard time, or the summer I spent where that was "the big city". It's just bleh.

Woke up at 4 am this morning and went outside to take pictures of the total lunar eclipse. I was out in the cold 35 - 40 F for 2 hours. My toes are still frozen and I am half asleep.

We're debating what to do for dinner. Just found out today that the wound that won't heal on my kitty is a cancerous tumor. We've decided not to have it removed (she's 16) and just let her live out her life until she isn't enjoying life any more.

My eclipse pictures...I was up at 4.30 am this morning to get this series..

At totality, the moon was this colour; thanks to the ash cloud from the Chilean Volcano over Australia at the moment.

It was 6 am...and I headed back in to warm up! Thinking of going back to bed for a nap now.
