Last night choice, resort or airport?

My DH and I will be at the Boardwalk end of August with the Fall Fantasy package. Our passes are good the day we check out until midnight. We were going to spend as much time as possible that last day and night and then get our transportation (limo service or taxi) to an airport hotel to fly out the next day at 11:30am.

Now I'm thinking of reserving that night at a Disney resort (maybe Port Orleans) instead of near the airport. I know they will transfer luggage from one resort to another. Room only prices for one night are too high at the Boardwalk or Dolphin, at the moment. Plus, I'd need to justify the extra expense to my DH (ha), especially when the airport hotels are 1/2 the price. Does this sound like too much of a hassle for one more night of magic?! (I think I know the answer to that question!)

Our flight out is at 8 AM, so we opted to stay at the hotel right in the airport(not saving much $, but we can literally roll out of bed and walk to the gate!) We also plan to make the best use of our last day, not going to the hotel until the evening, but if our flight was later I think it would be great to stay at whichever resort I could afford to also have the use of a room for that last day. If $ is an issue, though, you can't beat the price of the off-site hotels!

Last March we stayed at the MCO Hyatt the last night and saved ourselves the last minute rush that always seems to happen when we check out of a WDW resort and drive to the airport. We hit a Mexican themed restaurant there and had a nice relaxing last night after catching Fantasmic one last time. We're booked to do it again this Nov.

How did you like the Hyatt at the airport? That was one of my choices, but the best price I've gotten so far is $129...

We stayed at the Hyatt in February. We were at MK late, it was E-night and our flight was at 7 a.m.! The Hyatt is very nice, I felt safe there and we literally rolled out of bed the next morning. To me it was worth the $$ to be right at the airport. I would do it again for an early morning flight.

I would stay at the airport. It seems lately that traffic congestion around Disney has really become insane. To avoid any delays, I'd do the safe thing.

We always have a very early flight out in the morning. Every trip, we bring up the idea of staying at a hotel near the airport and immediately we both say - No Way! I need that one last night. I don't want to feel like we need to leave the parks any earlier to pack and transfer near the airport.

Plus, there's something special about being up so early and saying goodbye to Disney while it's just us and everyone else is still asleep.

I'm also lucky enough to be a teacher, okay, it's a mixed blessing. I can't go during value season, but when we get back from our vacation in June I'll have 2 months to recouperate.

We have a late flight in and an early flight out. Originally, we were going to spend this first night off site and the last night off site.

BUT.....I wanted to keep the magic alive as long as possible, so we changed our last night and are staying at POFQ. I just couldn't stand the idea of having a fantastic week of WDW and leaving the last night before our flight to stay closer to the airport.


Our flight leaves at 7am so it will be a very early wake up call.....but we can sleep on the plane!

Made the VERY BAD mistake of staying at a cheap resort the last night. And on top of that, the last full day we were there it rained, and rained, and was cold, ARGH!!!! We ended up at 2PM, sitting in this gross little room, smelled bad, a little vacationed out, and wishing allot that at least we were staying on site.
The motel at the airport could be cool though, with the whole airport to check out with no rush, etc.
