So, I find as DH and I get older we're traveling to the World much more by ourselves and it seems so weird. We use to travel all the time with both of our DD's, who are now 25 and 17 (soon to be 18 in December) and our wonderful granddaughter, who is 5.

Our kids use to complain that we went to the World SO much......"what? complain about going to see Mickey??" The nerve of some people....... my youngest is now learning that the trips to the World will soon come to an end for her on Mom and Dad's $$$$$ and she is beginning to appreciate being able to come along more. However, now Mom and Dad have seen the joy in going alone, too..... :lmao:

Seriously though, it seems with the kiddos having other activities......we decided we agaiin wanted to go to my "Happy Place'" this weekend, so here we go again with one of our last minute weekend trip plans. Last weekend, we realized that we were going to be free this weekend and that's all that it took to plant the tiny seed of hope to make the trip over to the World. Being only an hour and a half away if always encouraging.

I feel like a 42 year old kid when I'm at the World. I can leave all of the worlds troubles at the I-4 corridor and just plainly enjoy being there without worry. DH is a 45 year old kid in denial, he enjoys going to the World, too. However, proclaims he enjoys going because he knows how happy it makes me, when I truly appreciate his concern for making me happy I know he deep down enjoys being there, too and just doesn't want to admit to being a true Disneyoholic.

We went to the F & W Festival a couple of years ago and truly enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to it this weekend as well. With the reports of the crowds being light, I'm hopeful that maybe we can get some quality time in at some other parks and do some favorite rides and such.

This is the first time we haven't made any ADR's and I'm kind of feeling lost....not sure what to do about going on a "whime" or "with the flow" this weekend. As I'm usually one that has everything planned and go with the flow slightly with a plan ;) It should make for an interesting weekend though.

we made ressies for ASMO and haven't stayed there for years....the only value we've stayed at recently has been the POP and really enjoyed it there. Not too worried though with it only being a couple of nights stay. How bad could it be???? :thumbsup2

So, I'm waiting for the TGIF clock to tick to I can get outta here and be on my way to the World. Hopefully I can scoot out a little early and be at the World this afternoon. popcorn:: :wizard:

what a great time we had :thumbsup2

We arrived at ASMU (not ASMO, as I first said) around 6pm and check-in was very quick and smooth. Except one thing I noticed is that I usually don't have much luck with "special request". As I had requested a King room and of course there were none available. We were given a room 8503 in the Broadway building. The rooms were clean and we enjoyed our stay. We never used the food court and although we dreaded taking the bus, as you always read about the long lines and waits. We actually didn't have ANY problems with the bus service. We seemed to get very lucky when waiting for a bus, we never waited more than 10 minutes.

After arrival, we put our stuff in the room and quickly settled in for our weekend stay, so there wasn't much to settle ;) we headed off to Epcot for the F&W Festival and the EMH. we had a great time walking the World Showcase and trying different foods, we enjoyed the concert. The weather was very nice, with a nice calming breeze. We decided to head back to the resort after Illuminations was over, as we wanted to chill out for a bit and get a good nights sleep for Hollywood Studios the next morning.

Saturday, we headed out by 7:30am and decided to skip breakfast so we could get to Hollywood Studios for the EMH and try TSM. We made it to the park right at opening and the crowds were light. We headed straight for TSM and it had a 10 minute wait, so we got a fastpass, which was good for 9:10-10:10. We rode TSM and what an fantastic ride, we laughed and had a great time on that ride. We moved on to RRC as I've never been brave enough to try it, but decided today I was feeling adventurous. We had a 10 minute wait for this ride also. Wow.....did I find out real quick I was getting old on that ride. My head took awhile to clear up after getting off of that one.

We decided to "take a break" so I could recoup and stopped at Starring Rolls for a small bite for breakfast. Sat for a short time and enjoyed the cool breeze. After the break we headed over to the TSM ride again so we could use our FP. I recommend that ride to those that like Buzz Lightyear, it's definately much better. By now it was around 10:00am and we decided that we wanted to hit Animal Kingdom. So, we hopped a bus on over there and the crowds were light to moderate. We first walked back to EE and only had a 15 minute wait there. Then we decided to head over to the Safari ride and it had a 20 minute wait that I think was only like 10. It was so funny while on the safari, we had 2 adult giraffe and the baby one walk in our path, hang out in front of our truck for a few minutes and then the baby came right up to the side within a foot or so of the truck. It was SO neat and guess who forgot the camera at home and didn't realize it until we already arrived Friday.:guilty:

We then decided it was noonish and we were getting hungry. So, we headed over to Rainforest. We bot had a great burger and our waitress was very attentive. We decided to head back to the resort to relax awhile. After getting back and looking at the schedule, I realized that the Magic Kingdom was in fact closing for MNSSHP and I had read the wrong info as I thought it was Friday. So, since I got my days mixed up we decided to head over to the MK for a couple of hours.

We decided since there were no EMH at any of the parks and everything was closing by 9:00pm, we would go to AMC and see the Beverly Hills Chi (not even gonna try to spell it) :cool1: So, we had dinner at 7:30pm at Trails End and then headed to DTD. We were there for the 9:15 showing and out by 11:00pm. We were too full from the Trails End to even think about popcorn:: , so we just got a:drinking1

We were back at the resort and in the room by 11:30pm and decided to hit the sack by 1:00am. Needless to say, we sleep in a bit Sunday morning. We were up and out by 10:00am though. We headed out to Epcot and rode Soarin' for the first time. What a great ride and the smells add so much to it. Then we headed over to Test Track. We left the parks around 1:00pm and headed home as we had things to get done before work on Monday morning.

We had a great time and enjoyed our short little weekend away. So much that we decided we were gonna do it again on the 17th and stay until Monday the 20th this time. We booked at the ASMO preferred room, as I tried booking at SSR on my DVC points, but of course nothing was available.

We have had planned for a few months now to take our granddaughter Halloween weekend, so the Pixie dust has dropped on us pixiedust: I do feel lucky.
