Last minute trip to DL & DCA this weekend 4/19

Does anyone know of any events going on at DL or DCA this Saturday 4/19 that would impact the crowds? Anyone know of what we should expect in terms of people/crowds this Saturday?

ALLEGEDLY there is a cheerleader convention . . . . someone has been posting about it (April 18-20) but there is also speculation that they are trying to scare people away . . . . .

From what I have been able to verify, there are a few things going on that weekend.

1. There is a cheerleader event at the convention center with an expected crowd of 10,000. It's about a third the size of the cheerleader event in March, so perhaps someone who was there during March could speak to the impact on crowd levels.
2. There is Toyota Grand Prix in Longbeach (a half hour or so away) that expects 200,000 people. People may come to DL before or after the races.
3. The last weekend of the SoCal 2-fers was the weekend of April 19. It looks like this has been extended to May, but I'm not sure if that includes those who have already purchased their tickets, and even so they may not know it has been extended.

Thanks for the info. I think it might be safe to say that the people who are attending these events (cheerleaders & race enthusiast) will be doing just that- attending there respective events and won't be too concerned w/ DL. At least i would not be.

Here is what Darkbeer has to say about it, and obviously he is a good person to trust on the subject (looks like he thinks it will be very crowded)...

April 18th thru the 20th is the weekend of the Long Beach Grand Prix (professional car race), plus there is a major Cheer/Dance competition at the Anaheim Convention Center.

So if you are trying to figure out why it will be so crowded and the room prices are so high that weekend, you can now figure it out.

We were there last Sunday (the 13th) and it was pretty crowded, and very hot! (forecast for Saturday is much cooler) It was the last day of some of the local schools spring break. I think all the spring breaks may be over. The park is open from 8 a.m. to 12 midnite so that's an indication that Disney expects it to be busy. Good news is that most AP can't go on Saturday, so you won't have those crowds to deal with.

The Food and Wine Festival is going on at DCA. It started on the 11th and there were more people at DCA than usual. It runs until May 5th. Check here on allearsnet.com for info. http://allearsnet.com/dlr/tp/dca/dcafw.htm

If you do your Fast Passes right and get there early, even if it's crowded, you'll still be able to ride alot.
