Hello,

I hope I am posting this question in the right forum, my apologies if not.

We are looking to do a last minute trip from 1/8-1/14 (that's last minute for me,lol). Looking to go into a value and probably no restaurant reserves, just counter services, which is fine for us.

Here's the issue. Gathering that rooms don't seem very available (at least most moderates and values), I'm wondering is the reality of it that there will not be any Fast Pass times available? This is one of my concerns and may make us reconsider going and just book 6 months ahead instead.

I really don't care about the times that are available, we'll take anything, just want to know we should be able to get some Fast Passes for the newer and popular attractions.

If anyone can help out it would be appreciated!

I don't think you'll have an issue getting fast passes. There are always something available unless it's Christmas or New years. I pick up multiple fast passes day of without issue. If you don't like what you get you can always click on modify to try and change it. Sometimes it's easier to get a better time after picking up a fast pass instead of looking for one from scratch.

From the FP FAQ:
Availability

The vast majority of the 60 FP attractions at WDW have FPs available as late as day-of.

- Attractions listed here are the most difficult to get. Onsite guests can expect limited availability even at 60 days in advance, while offsite guests are unlikely to get much availability (if at all) at 30 days. Acquiring these attractions less than 7 days in advance may require frequent monitoring of FP availability via the MDX app or website. Same-day FPs are most unlikely, but possible with constant monitoring via MDX.
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom)
  • Frozen Ever After (Epcot)
  • Avatar Flight Of Passage (Animal Kingdom)

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom)
  • Peter Pan's Flight (Magic Kingdom)
  • Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom)
  • Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom)
  • IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth (Epcot)
  • Soarin' (Epcot)
  • Test Track (Epcot)
  • Toy Story Mania (Hollywood Studios)
  • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (Hollywood Studios)
  • Navi River Journey (Animal Kingdom)
  • Rivers of Light (Animal Kingdom)
- All other attractions are relatively easy to get. Onsite guests can expect wide availability at 60 days in advance, while offsite guests can expect good availability at 30 days. Acquiring these attractions less than 7 days is likely, but availability may be limited. Same-day FPs are likely, but may require frequent monitoring via MDX.

- The MDX system can be used to check availability at any park, even if FPs are selected for a different park that day. However, guests are advised to be careful not to confirm any selections offered, or existing FPs will be affected. See the FP FAQ Addendum for more information.

- In general, day-of FP availability for most headliners--particularly outside of Magic Kingdom—is typically low and approaches nonexistent as choices for 4th FPs since several hours must pass until guests are eligible for 4th FPs.

- There is little evidence that different “pools” of FPs are maintained for different booking windows. In other words, the full slate of FPs available for any particular attraction is released at one time, some 70+ days in advance, and none are saved for offsite guests or those who wait until they arrive in the park.

- If maximum choice and times of FPs is desired, then reserving them at the earliest opportunity is highly recommended.

You should be fine getting most of the FP+ in advance for your trip. For certain popular rides, like FoP, FEA, and 7DMT, you might have to keep checking and refreshing even during the day of, with no guarantee you'll get one (also dependent on how large your party is). But if you are fine with possibly not riding those 3 attractions, go for it!

In my experience, FP's show up the night/day before fairly well. I'm local and have been doing day trips, so on Monday when I think I'm gonna go on Saturday I'll try to book some FP and there isn't much to choose. But by Friday I'm usually see quite a bit of movement, I suppose because people that are there are changing their park days/plans. No guarantees of course, but if you are able to check the system a lot to see what pops up you may find that you're able to see most of the big stuff.

Yes, this. We're here now, the busiest week of the year. I've gotten a ton of 4th, 5th, 6th FP+ same day, including lots of headliners. TSMM, RnR, EE, Splash, Space, etc...often just 20 or 30 minutes ahead of time. The FP+ system becomes extremely "fluid" if you're working on FP+ for that same day, as people change plans.

We decided to take a last minute trip this past November (week after Thanksgiving) that was booked about 30 days out. Your plans sound very similar to ours. Wanted either Value or Mod., table service ADRs were not really a priority, and FP times weren’t crucial in that we were willing to go with the flow and make any available times work.

We were able to find all desired FPs (including FoP) thanks to frequent checking in the MDE app. We were able to find the few table service ADRs we were hoping for (1900 Park Fare, Akershus, Tusker House). The biggest hassle was finding room availability. Originally, the best we could find was a split stay at ASMovies. But after some searching we were able to find a single room at ASMovies so we booked it. We were hesitant as it was to be our first time at a Value. Turns out we were worrying for nothing. ASMovies was great! Would definitely stay there again for a last minute trip. I vote go and have a great time!

I was worried about this as well when I did a trip booked 2 weeks out earlier this year. I was never able to get 7DMT - but got PP and FEA (both day of, not in advance). Didn't try for anything at AK or HS as I didn't have time to do those parks as it was just a long weekend.
