Hi all (again), only 6 days to go and me and my daughter are off to Paris. We have decided to do DLP on Wednesday and Thursday - and I'm expecting two full-on 9am til 11pm+ days.

We are using either the Danone voucher or the Kodak voucher suggested here and I have read and read about what to expect and how to prepare etc...however I have ten quickfire questions I hope seasoned DLPers can help me with.
So far I have been amazed how quick and helpful people are on this forum, for my part I promise when I get back I will report our adventures and help anyone I can.

Anyway, here are the questions - some of them might seem a bit daft but hey - they are the things trhat I'm wondering about. Thank you very much again in advance:

1: What time should I get to DLP bearing in mind I am paying at the gate with my vouchers? I understand sometimes they open a bit earlier and obviously I would like to avoid a lonnnng wait. We will be travelling in from our hotel at Noisy le Grand so would need to check times to get there in good time.

2: Will I be ok to enter the park with a backpack of food and drink (hoping to save a little money here).

3: Will there be a park map and timetable in English available to help with planning the day?

4: Is there any kind of announcement in English to notify the start of parades or fireworks (just in case we are in a queue and miss it).

5: What time are the fireworks and where is the best place to be for them?

6: Can you leave and re-enter the park freely? We are wanting to pop into the Disney Village at some point to have a snoop around.

7: which leads to...Is the Disney Village right next to the parks and is there anything in there worth seeing?

8: When the park closes is it a case of everyone goes home or is there anything continuing outside or in the Disney Village for non-Disney Hotel visitors?

9: Do many of the characters wander around the park and is it easy enough for my little girl to grab a photo/autograph?

10. Any last minute tips??

Again, thank you so much in advance.

I would say to get there at about 9 ish as I have know when using the early morning hours, people still stand around infront of the castle, take piccies ect so I know you can get in earlier than 10 and just stand at your preferred area until ropedrop

2: Will I be ok to enter the park with a backpack of food and drink (hoping to save a little money here).

Yes, a few people bring this up, as long as its not glass bottles, I think everything else is fine to bring in

3: Will there be a park map and timetable in English available to help with planning the day?

Yes, as you walk under the Disney rail road, there are different maps labelled with different languages

4: Is there any kind of announcement in English to notify the start of parades or fireworks (just in case we are in a queue and miss it).

I don't think that there is an announcement (maybe someone on here can clarify it), but I know it says the times and language on the maps

5: What time are the fireworks and where is the best place to be for them?

I can't answer that one 100% correctly but I would say about half 7 ish.

6: Can you leave and re-enter the park freely? We are wanting to pop into the Disney Village at some point to have a snoop around.

As long as you have a 2 park hopper ticket, I think thats fine but again, maybe someone can definately clarify

7: which leads to...Is the Disney Village right next to the parks and is there anything in there worth seeing?

Literally, yes. Its about a 30 second walk from both park entrances. There's a large Disney shop and some lovely places to eat.

8: When the park closes is it a case of everyone goes home or is there anything continuing outside or in the Disney Village for non-Disney Hotel visitors?

I don't think there is anything on apart from the Buffallo Wild West show

9: Do many of the characters wander around the park and is it easy enough for my little girl to grab a photo/autograph?

I think enough walk round but you see more who aren't actually on a schedule and who are just freely walking around. In these instances when you first see them it seems to be quiet but its not always so easy. There seems to be alot of pushing and showing when trying to get autographs and sometimes from the parents!

10. Any last minute tips??

Enjoy yourself, have a wonderful time, maybe check the weather to know if you need a poncho, take regular breaks to take in the atmosphere and write a fantastic report with lots of piccies :goodvibes

Again, thank you so much in advance.

4: Is there any kind of announcement in English to notify the start of parades or fireworks (just in case we are in a queue and miss it).

There's the standard "in just 15 minutes..." announcement along the parade route, but it's not done throughout the park.

5: What time are the fireworks and where is the best place to be for them?

I can't answer that one 100% correctly but I would say about half 7 ish.

I assume that's a typo and you meant the parade? ;)

Last month fireworks started after Fantillusion. I think it was around 10.45 PM.

10. Any last minute tips??

Again, thank you so much in advance.

1 - Some of the Ticket office under the DLH opens at 8.00 opens and the b rest from 9.15. At 9.30 the park gates open (but you can't ride until 10.00) so you could get there before that and queue

2 - You can take in what you like within reason. We've seen people with coolers and last time a shopping buggy full of food.:scared1: Obviously bottles of wine are a no go :lmao:

3 - As pp said

4 - There are annoncements for the parade(s) that you will hear if you are on or around mainstreet and the central hub. They are repeated in several different languages pendant 10-15 minutes

5 - The fireworks start after the Fantillusion parade so around 11.00 pm. Most people stay where they were for watching the parade for then seeing the fireworks as they go off over/around the castle

6 - You can go in and out as you please from the park to the village to the studios if you take the 2 park/1 day option (30€ Danone/35€ Kodak) otherwise either Park/Village/Park repeat at will or Studios/Village/Studios etc ;)

7 - There's loads of shops all selling pretty much the same stuff as what you get in the parks, a few places to eat with the cheapest being EoS or McDo, a multiplex showing films mostly in VF (so all in French no subtitles) and rarely in VO (in the original language of the film with subtitles) and BBWWS. There's also the hot air ballon which gives you great views if the weather is good and you can go out of the lake.

8 - You are there when the park closes after the fireworks so it's going to be 11.30pm when you get out of the park. The Village will be more or less closing then, besides McDo there wouldn't be anywhere to eat say

If you leave the park before closing you have BBWWS at 6.30/9.30 pm but on the two days you have chosen there are no shows, it's the 2 rest days

Restaurants take orders until around 10.15 -10.30 pm normally but check with them earlier in the day if there is one you want to go to

9- As pp more or less - you see some walking about it's a push and shove. Some like Mickey and Pooh always seem to be in the same place everytime I go and their meet and greet is organised with a proper queue.

I don't take much notice to be honest as I'm not interested by them but if you look at the program you see listed times and places for the organised ones

10 - Take it as it comes, you won't be able to see it all so don't try, enjoy your time there and lose your self a little in the magic:goodvibes

Top tip - Wear confortable shoes as you will be walking walking walking

Hi durhamblue, iv answered what I could
1: What time should I get to DLP bearing in mind I am paying at the gate with my vouchers? I understand sometimes they open a bit earlier and obviously I would like to avoid a lonnnng wait. We will be travelling in from our hotel at Noisy le Grand so would need to check times to get there in good time. I would say about 8.40

2: Will I be ok to enter the park with a backpack of food and drink (hoping to save a little money here). thats a good idea and shouldnt be a prob at all

3: Will there be a park map and timetable in English available to help with planning the day yes, under the arcades which you'll see on either side when u go thru the turnstiles

4: Is there any kind of announcement in English to notify the start of parades or fireworks (just in case we are in a queue and miss it). yes theres announcements but crowds are a good indication too. Your programme will have times and details.

5: What time are the fireworks and where is the best place to be for them?

6: Can you leave and re-enter the park freely? We are wanting to pop into the Disney Village at some point to have a snoop around. I think this depends on your tickets but I should imagine so

7: which leads to...Is the Disney Village right next to the parks and is there anything in there worth seeing I love wandering thru the shops

8: When the park closes is it a case of everyone goes home or is there anything continuing outside or in the Disney Village for non-Disney Hotel visitors?

9: Do many of the characters wander around the park and is it easy enough for my little girl to grab a photo/autograph?
ive not been in high season but we've been fortunate to run into loads of random characters. Be careful as it can get a bit full on, with lots of pushing
10. Any last minute tips??
dont forget the camera!!!
Again, thank you so much in advance.

3) If you are the plan ahead type the programme of shows, parades, meet and greets etc is on the Disneyland Paris website, when I looked the other day it was showing the prog for 13-19th Aug I don't know how early they go up but yours should presumably be up by Sat at the latest. Somewhere on line there's probably a map, if not most guidebooks have 1 in - my local library stocks the Brit guide.

There's the standard "in just 15 minutes..." announcement along the parade route, but it's not done throughout the park.

I assume that's a typo and you meant the parade? ;)

Last month fireworks started after Fantillusion. I think it was around 10.45 PM.

Yes I think I thought parade, doh!

The main thing that is causing the confusion is the fireworks here. Fantillusion finishes at top of Main Street, going away from the Castle. Fantillusions also starts at 10:15 ish from the bottom.....sometimes this is reversed but if you ask a CM they will tell you which way the parade is going. If on it's normal route, then stand opposite Walts to see the parade stops :thumbsup2 I do not recommend the back of the hub (right hand side as you look at it, left hand side facing away) as there is a music conflict from the speakers and floats so can get awfully noisy!!
The fireworks start at 11pm, when all the rides are closing. It will not start until Fantillusions has finished, sometimes they are delayed by 10 mins of so to allow for this, but the best place to stand I find depends on how quick you want to leave the park!! Watching from the bottom of Main Street at the bottom of the arcade gives you a quick exit by turning up one of the arcades and avoiding the crowds :goodvibes

Also leaving and reentering the park is easy. If you do not have a hopper pass, they will stamp your hand so you can re-enter.

Wow - thank you so much for the responses everyone.

Thats a huge weight off my mind, I almost feel prepared now.

This forum has been invaluable.

:thumbsup2
