Last Minute Doubts....

I'm hoping some advice from some of you with dining plan experience can help me with a last minute self-doubt I have.

I had origionally planned this trip for myself, DH, 2 kids and all the grand parents (3). At the time I crunched the numbers and ruled out the dining plan.

Now we're down one person and have these ADRs: CMC, Biergarden, TuskerHouse, 1900 Park Fare and Coral Reef. Just based on the cost of those meals alone, it looks like the dining plan for the 6 of us would now possibly make sense.

I estimate those meals with drinks and tip would be about $1k,
the DDP would be $910, figure another $200 for tips and drinks for those meals and our CS meals are paid for the rest of the trip.

Here's where things get sticky: we check in less than 4 days. AND I'm renting points. If I'm going to do this I need to decide now. Contact the owner and ask them to add this to our reservation today....

Am I just getting cold feet or did I just find a way to save a couple of bucks on this trip?? :confused3

Thanks,
Heather

If you think it will work...do it.You will get a thousand different opinions on this .The only thing that matters is that you think it is a good deal.I like it,I found on my last trip that some of the cost of things I underestimated...No biggie I had the dp.But if I was on a fixed budget it could have been a problem.

If your numbers are right (without looking at those menus and know what you would order) I would say add it. You won't be sorry if you are eating at those places ANYWAY ~ the only way I wouldn't do it is if I had no intention of eating at TS.

Good luck! Have fun!

I agree. The only thing that matters is whether it works well with your plan.

Good Luck.

I was one of those doubters too. I wanted to see how much we could save on this trip. But DH wanted the DDP for ease and not to worry about what we order. I know me, and I would try to order the cheapest thing.
We called to set up ADR and were able to get enough to have TR for each day, so we did add the DDP. I was excited because now the stress if off and I can order whatever I want and not worry about what it is costing.

We are doing the 4/3 deal so we plan to use the $200 gift card to help pay tips and such.

Have fun. We will be there the same time, but we are going to be there TOMORROW night!!!! Yipee!

Thanks everyone!

I pulled the trigger. My DVC owner was right on it and it's all done.

I'm actually pretty excited.

I would do the same thing. Especially at counter service. I'd end up eating a plain hot dog or a hot pretzel for lunch each day, staring at DH's lunch. He'd shrug, you could have ordered this....

sweetiee: we'll see you there on Sunday. Go make it warm for us. ;)

So glad it works for you! It's nice not to worry about the price of something while your on vaccation.

Now you don't have to just get a Dole Whip, upgrade to the Dole Whip Float!

We enjoy all the rest's you have chosen, the only one we have not done is Tusker. I really think you will enjoy the plan with those options and also feel the price would be of a table service alone so the snack and counter service meals are a BONUS! making the paln a good option. Those meals REALLY add up and the ease of picking anything without regard to price makes it worth it in my book and I am THRIFTY ;) We also find eating a full meal holds us over longer. Just remember tips and app's are not included any longer. I do hope you are happy with your decision, I really think you will be! :goodvibes

I would do this too. This is why I decided DDP was the way to go b/c I don't have to look at prices...at all. WOOT! (Unless I want to get all Scrooge McDuck about the tip, that is.)

I wouldn't just get a hot dog or pretzel but I did always look at prices and get that sick feeling. Especially at TS restaurant. I like not having to worry about what I order, as long as I break even with what I would've normally ordered. If I want the most expensive thing that's fine too.
