we normally plan our disney trips months in advance-

but we decided last friday to plan a trip in less than 2 wks- this is how i did.

we are a family of 5- 2 adults and 3 kids

round trip coach on amtrak ( including expresss
delivery for tickets) for 5 $250

limo from home to train station with grat $210

limo from oralndo station to hotel w/grat $115

park hoppers thru ticketmania $660

5 nites caribean beach resort $636

food & spending money (75 /day) $ 600

total trip = 2471

what do you all think??/

i know it could have been cheaper-
we could have saved the limo to the train station- my dad offered to drive us - but since we would be leaving at nite- i did not think newark nj the safest area for my dad to be driving around at night and since they live and hour from our house- we'd have an extra hr commute to the train station.

also we could have booked at the pop century for about $200 less for the 5 days- but decided to try a moderate resort.

Sounds good to me. Will you be doing character meals or mostly counter service? Did you put any money in for those 'must have' souveniers? I think you will have a wonderful time! I think your budget is reasonable too.:earsgirl:

I think the budget looks fine, as long as it works for you. Don't you absolutely love the last minute trips??? I really enjoy planning-- but I love it when I don't have to wait 10 months to go. We just decided last week to go in March--- I set my countdown clock the same day and it was only at 29 days--- It was great. Our last trip 11/03 I had to watch the clock countdown from 268!!! Have fun!!!!!!!!!

Sounds okay to me! As others said, make sure you have enough $$$ for those little expenses that may creep up. ::yes:: I love last minute trips and wish I made one this time.

Sounds great! We are also a family of 5 and leaving in a couple of weeks for a last minute vacation there. I never did the train, we usually drive every year. How long does it take by train and how's the ride? I was thinking my kids might like it for a change of pace. Thanks and have fun!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo

I've never travelled by train. How did you get $250 for 5 tickets from NJ to FL?

Instead of the limo you could get a small van to drop you off/pick you up and that would save a lot of money. Also I might plan on a little more than $75 per day for 5 people. The plan sounds great on such short notice! Have fun!

We went from jan23 to feb1st.....here is how we did it..planned it in 3weeks

flight for 4 from Syracuse nonstop to sanford round trip $750

rental car for 9days $190

9 nights Disney movies restort $55 pr night $490

Tickets 5 day hoppers $660

total $2090

not counting food, gifts, Seaworld add about $700

but all included we figure we spent $2780 thats for 9 nights and 10 days. We had a great time!

zinniamom - my husband and i went a few times by train before kids- this will be our first trip with our three kids- we usually drive and have 2 overnite stop overs - so normally we are on the rode 3 days each way -
so we decided to try the train we board at about 7:30pm and arrive at about 4:00 the next day- a lot less time than driving for us.

i was able to get the sale on amtraks weekly rail sale- they change their sale weekly- right now one way from penn station to orlando in $20.70.
