i posted earlier about getting a reservation at the end of april into may, but i am not closing on my property for probably three weeks...i was told it may be tough...but is it safe to assume if i can book it through the regular website for cash that there are still rooms available? i was able to pull up all
DVC resorts for the days i want...I hope this is true...i have booked my airfair already...keeping my fingers crossed!!!
Sorry, no, there are often cash reservations available if there are no DVC reservations. They are from a different inventory of rooms. There are several reasons for the two inventories.
1) Whenever a member trades out of DVC, rooms are turned over to CRO for cash to offset the cost of the trade, they can not be reclaimed by DVC. This is where the bulk of cash rooms come from. In theory, these
are rooms reserved by a DVC member, but the member is staying elsewhere. This basically applies to any trade, except Interval International.
2) Disney retains a small ownership in the DVC resorts for maintenance, etc. If those rooms are not needed for maintenance, they are rented for cash.
3) At about 60 Days out, any DVC rooms not reserved by members are turned over to CRO, this shows on your dues as "breakage income". If there is "breakage inventory" those rooms can sometimes be reclaimed for a DVC reservation.
4) Developers Points/undeclared inventory. At resorts under construction, like SSR, any units that are completed, but do not have points sold are not declared part of DVC. Those rooms are available through CRO, and will not be made available to members until DVC begins selling points in that building.
