This past weekend, we were at a local festival that included an indoor laser show set to the music of Pink Floyd. They played a lot of their great songs and finished up with Dark Side of the Moon. It was a pretty cool show and almost had a concert feel to it (sans the familiar odors).
But, I hadn't intended to take any pictures since I had my 70-300VR mounted for some of the shots I was doing outdoors. And, of course, my bag was in our car and I didn't have time to run and get a better suited lens. So, we get seated and I realized that I might could actually make something of this even though it was completely dark. Although 70mm was a bit too tight, it still allowed for at least a chance at some pictures. Being f/4.5 on the low end, I knew I had my work cut out for me. So, I bumped my D80 to (the equivalent of) ISO 2500. This resulted in a best case of 1/25 sec and worst case 1/4 sec on the following shots. All I did was rest my elbow on the arm rest to support the camera. I guess I was surprised at how well both the lens did and the D80 did at a pretty high ISO. For those of you who are Pink Floyd fans, you can really appreciate and understand some of these shots.
For those of you who have never even heard of them......I'm sorry.
