Like other poster said, there are LONG lines at each casino entrance to catch a taxi, so be prepared to wait.

The cab line will depend on the time of day and what is going on. Show just let out? LONG line. Checkout time? Long line.

BTW - long line for cabs when you are ready to head to the airport? Get bell services to help with your bags. The $5 tip makes it SOOO nice. They just wave on the next cab and voila - no wait!

DH and I stayed at one hotel with a rental car for the same time period some friends stayed at another and they took cabs. The amount they spent on cabs was way more than what we spent on the car.

We like to casino hop and go downtown during our visits. We do not enjoy waiting for buses or walking long distances in the heat. While some casinos may be close to each other, they aren't that close. Parking is free just about everywhere or can be validated. We use the roads that run parallel to the strip and rarely hit traffic.

Agreed, we went once and only once without a car! We spent a fortune in taxis and my feet were killing me from walking a million miles!

There is no need to drive up and down the strip. The other roads are much faster.

exactly.... there are several parallel roads.

I always rent a car when I go. I sort of use it as a portable base of operations so to speak.

Those "blocks" on the strip are lonnnnnnnnnng blocks to be walking.

We've been going recently for 6 nights at a time. We get up early and go out in the rental car to off-strip casinos/attractions. Late afternoon (before dark) we get the car back to our resort's parking garage and then hoof it for the evening hours.

If you are only there for a short time and/or plan to stick to the strip, then no need for a car.

Off-strip destinations? You'll want a car.

I voted car. I remember the taxi's were really expensive, and if hotel parking is free then you can save $$. Also, taxi's only stop at certain parts of town and sometimes you have to walk 1/2 a mile just to get to a taxi stand. JMO.

Rental all the way!

Valet is free at almost all hotels and if you run Koval or Dean Martin parallel to the strip you can get around without much hassle.
