Las Vegas Half Marathon Any other WISHers? 2009 is the year!

I should know in about 2 weeks if we can do this one. Just waiting to hear from the NYC lottery.......If I don't get into that one, we'll be able to go to Vegas instead.

I'm registered! Booked a ressi at Excaliber too. Thanks for the links.

I have to post on the WISH Team Calendar. Don't forget to add yours to the calendar if you've decided to join in.

Tracy and I are staying at Excalibur also. I booked a room last Friday.

WISHers party in Vegas!! Looks like we are going to have a great group. Don't know where we will be staying yet, depends on where Jim gets the best comps.

LILY...You are running this one TOO!! OMG I get to see you two months in a row :) I'm excited all over again :)

The new course map was announced yesterday. The entire half-marathon will be run on the strip. Here is the link:

There is also a $20 coupon code on the main site that expires today.

That is AWESOME news!! Last year only the first 3 miles or so were on the strip and the rest of the course was in an industrial area. This is so much better!!

I'm so glad they changed up the course! Hopefully this year they'll have more aid stations because the amount they had last year sucked! They said there would be water every mile last year....not true at all. I'm glad RNR took over for Devine!

One minor concern.....the half has a 4 hr timelimit, one section of the website mentioned that it was gun time, not chip time. Another section mentioned the half would have a wave start. It has taken me 50-55 minutes to get to the start line in past RnR events I have done (San Antonio and Nashville) and I wasn't even in the last corral. Should be interesting......

Oooooo, I'm sooooo jealous of those who are doing this! Having the entire half on the strip is so cool. Hopefully those that can't do it this year will sign up for next year's event and we'll have some WISH company. Our hotel for 3 nights in NYC is almost $1,200 :scared1: and it doesn't even have a casino! :lmao: Our bank is broken for sure. :sad2:

What, 4 hr gun time with that kind of time to cross over. Arghhh!

Kristi, hope you join in the fun!

Steve and I are planning on signing up for this event at the Seattle expo...if we go. Not sure where we'll be staying yet.

John & I registered for the Las Vegas Half at the Seattle expo. Still not 100% sure we will be able to go.....need to find really good hotel & air rates. Anyone know of any current discounts for Vegas Hotels????

Pat, were you able to find out anything more about the 4-hour gun time allotment? John and I are thinking of signing up afterall, but I wanted to take it easy and not have to kill myself to finish. Nashville had about 30,000 entrants and it took a little over an hour to get over the start line. I wonder how many people this one will get.

No I haven't. I just figured I wasn't going to worry about it.....the course is extremely flat and I'm guessing you could take it to the sidewalks if the roads opened up. I am sure you'd be fine! The Seattle expo folks said Vegas was filling up fast, which may or may not be true....just don't wait too long to make a decision and then find they sold out.

To those people who have already booked their hotel.......what did you use as a booking agent? Or did you just do it directly with the hotel?

Hi All,
I am coming back from Vegas on Sat morning, December 5. I know, I know but we just can't stay until Monday and I couldn't get any FF flights on Sunday.

I always rent a timeshare but when I need just a night or two I check out http://www.smartervegas.com/ No fees or anything just links to some of the best deals in Vegas.

enjoy,
Duane
